Philips 40PFL8008K/12 screen went black during watching a DVD
Dear,
Yesterday evening when watching a dvd trough my Philips HTS5560/12, on my Philips 40PFL8008K/12 tv, the screen went black and only the ambilights were burning . It was impossible to shutdown, control the tv with the remote control. I was forced to disconnect the power cord for a few seconds and after that reconnect the power cord everything was fine. Even the red light wasn't lid.
After I have done that the remote control start working again. What could be the cause?
Kind regards,
Niels

Dear Ina,
First, thank you very much for your quick response.
So far the issue occurred only once, it only happened on the blu-ray/dvd player off the HTS5560/12 set. I will see if it happens again. So far I didn't have updated the firmware off my tv.
Kind regards,
Niels

This also looks like typical problems that are the result of the Philips TV's crashing when connected to network with DLNA server. Do you have your TV connected to a network and do you have DLNA devices on it?
There are already several topics in this forum about this problem. I think Philips knows about it, but apparently is not able to fix it!

Hi Niels,
My tv is connected wirelessly. I am not running a dlna server, but I do have devices such as shares that are accessible on a laptop. Thanks for the tip, I will look into it.
Kind regards,
Niels

I heard from a service technician that Philips television will have problem with some network routers. Please try without network connection.
Also there is an option to read out the error history of the television, maybe Ina can provide you a howto to show up this error screen so the user can post this for further investigation?

The best solution I found was to get a computer with h264 hardware acceleration (core 2 duo with nvidia gt220) with xbmc in windows 7.
It plays everything and you also can do a lot more. ;-)

Hi JeroenSt,
I will take a look if I can disable the build in wireless card inside my Philips tv. Thank you very much for your replies and suggestions. I really appreciate it. The wireless router that I use is a Linksys E4200 version 1.
Kind regards,
Niels
