Exclamation DTS Support for PFL 6xx8 series?

    Dear Philips,

I read on internet that (leaked) software version 171.47.0
has DTS sound support for the PFL6008 series.

    Release for FusionR3Ext: QF2EU-0.171.47.0_bld1b
    Generation date: 05/06/2013 16:26:43

I can't find this version on internet in no place.

Why those new firmware version don't have this
    DTS sound support?

Please can you enable the DTS sound for the 6xx8 serie
again? we would really apreciate it!!

As we have seen with above version it is possible for the
    6008 series.

    Hi,

it's a marketing decision, that 6xx8 does not have DTS.

Strange way of marketing as cheaper competitors has this function by default.
As it is still newest models of Philips for sale.

In my opinion there should be more people escalating this problem (as well as other) and only then Philips may decide that DTS support is not optional but must have function.

Moreover, I could not image that 1000euro TVs are so buggy. And unfortunately bought this product.

I agree with Pashkustva!! Very strange...

To me: it's an anoying decision. It's so easy to turn DTS support on!!

    Hi there,
I just bought Philips smart 3d led TV 42PFL6008 and after few days of being amazed with it..BIG disappointment with a knowledge that my new TV DOES NOT support DTS audio! I know that this problem can be solved very easy with software patch but still nothing. So I am more and more secure that philips support doesnt care a much about their customers...Its a shame for such big brand name.

It's a marketing thing to make us buy their more expensive TV's were they enable DTS support. There's no technical obstacle for enabling it in the 6xx8-series though. Seems like a stupid marketing strategy to me as Philips will lose a lot of potential customers in the mid and budget segment. Then again, they have most likely made some calculations on this and come to the conclusion that they will make more money not enblaing it in the 6xx8-series. My next TV will not be a Philips, that's for sure.

The 42pfl6008k/12 was a dream tv for me.

I choose other brand in the lack of dts.

Why 3d ? Why even Full Hd without Dts ?

    Sorry philips...

May I ask what I would use this DTS feature for? It probably would cost Philips a lot of royalties if they were to enable this function, even if most of the customers would not use it.

DTS sound! A lot of movies are with DTS sound. If the TV don't support the sound format you have a movie without sound. Result: Just Picture - No sound.

I think the majority of users will use it and see it like a big missure of this Tv!

    Hi Sharaf,

I believe there is just 1 version that supports DTS sound:

    Release for FusionR3Ext: QF2EU-0.171.47.0_bld1b
    Generation date: 05/06/2013 16:26:43

    I didn't try it! First: Because it's a very old verision (06-2013)
and second: you can't find it no where on the web!!

There should come (let's hope!) a newer (beta) version with
DTS support. I think the other was just a big mistake from Philips. This version never was intended to leak !!!!

I wished there was a way to enable it by yourself in a hidden menu or something!!!

@ Toengel: You know more about that leaked version, arent you???

    Regards, Jarno
