    HDMI Sound has Gone

After having no trouble with the TV at all the HDMI sound has now gone on two of the HDMI sockets. I did have wonderful sound and picture but now, just the picture. I think I need to clear the "home" screen of connected devises and start again just connecting one at a time and slowly testing each one. But how do I get back to a clear "home" screen that will show nothing connected?

I should just say that I connected to a friends TV and all worked fine.

    Hi geoffcy,

Could you please supply the model number for the TV in question?

    Best regards,

Can we carry this forward a little bit now please? I still have no sound on HDMI. I need to find out
what to do for a cure. I have seen on other threads what may be the answer but need your input
    first Ina. Thanks.

I have tried the update as described in the other posts but it didn't work. It didn't even change the date of the original software. I followed the instructions for updating the software carefully.
I then followed the TV method of updating the software. Allowing the TV to put the information on a USB pen, then going on the Internet to download the require file. This I then installed following the precedure advised and the software updated to a different date.

BUT the HDMI socket still has only picture and NO sound

Please advise me what I can try next

Philips support always want you to download the latest firmware.

    Just checking:

    - Did you try factory settings ?
    - Are you sure you didn't disable the TV speakers under options ? I assume you use the built-in speakers and don't have some external amplifier/receiver hooked up.

Well all to no success. Many thanks to everyone who had helpful things to post about "No sound on HDMI"

I tried the downloading of the update and carefully installing as per the instructions, success with that but so alas sound. Then I tried deleting the devise on the home screen and putting it back in again, no luck with that either, cracking picture but no sound.

NO thanks for the NIL input from Philips. They were about as much help as an ashtray on a motorbike. a loud silence from Philips apart from asking the TV model number

So I seem to be stuffed, I can't think of what else to do. Anyone with any help with this please?

    Hi geoffcy,

This forum is mainly intended as a user to user forum. If you required immediate assistance, you are advised to contact your local customer service team:

    http://www.support.philips.com/suppo..._selector.jsp?
Select your country and preferred language, then Contact.

Could you please confirm the software version that you installed on your TV. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "
date of the original software", so I'd like to confirm the installed version, please.

On your connected device, please try to change the audio out format to Stereo rather than an advanced sound format.

Please try to map the audio input from the device to the TV.

Have you tried using different HDMI devices? Do you get the same result with all?

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi Ina,
    Thanks for your reply.

    The original software was:-
    Q5431-0.26.58.5
    Generation Date 20.09. 2009 22.31.12
and now the software details read as:-
    Q5431-0.26.78.0
    Generation Date 09.07.2010 11.42.57

I have tried different devices. The other devices work OK on the other HDMI sockets
but my Hard Drive player, Asus O!Play only produces picture, no sound.
I tried this player on a friends TV HDMI socket and it worked perfectly.

For the last two years this worked fine on my TV and suddenly, no sound.

I have not altered any settings other than input the new software.

The Sony surround DVD is in one HDMI, The satalite receiver in in another
    and they work fine.

I just wonder why the Asus should now not work in the remaining HDMI.

    Hi geoffcy,

Thank you for confirming the software version and also my other questions.

I am unable to tell you why your Asus HD player is not working with your TV, but since other HDMI devices work without issue I can only chalk this up to an unknown compatibility issue. The strange part is that it used to work, so my next question is; has the Asus HD player had a recent update?

    Best regards,
    Ina

No the Asus HD player is as it's always been, no update. It works as normal in my neighbours TV in their HDMI socket but not in the HDMI socket that it used to work on my TV. I've got around this by using RCA (phono) plugs to the Asus and SCART socket to the TV.

It's very strange that it worked OK for 3 years but suddenly stopped working apart from video but the other 2 HDMI devices work OK sound and video.

Thanks for your reply, if you have any other ideas please post.
