Connection problem
Hello,
We have a TV 46PFL5007H/12 and we have been using a DVD player BDP2930/12.
This player has now stopped working so we replaced it with DVP2850/12.
However we cannot connect the new player with the TV as we appear to need a Scart to USB adapter which we are told doesn't exist.
What do we need to do ?
Thanks in advance
Having looked again, I wonder if I can use a scart to hdmi adapter.
If this is right then what size scart adapter do I need ?Last edited by flangewick; 01-25-2014 at 09:14 AM. Reason: I have now discovered what Philips should have told me right up front ! ! ! ! This item is now closed.

Hi flangewick,
I can see that you have added a note saying the thread should be closed, but I'm still curious as to what the issue might have been.
According to the DVD player user manual you would have been able to connect from Composite/Phono to SCART (page 4):
http://philips.to/1bsudLr
This cable should also have been supplied with the player.
A USB adapter should not be involved in this connection type.
Best regards,

Hello Ina,
Thank you for taking the trouble to reply.
My TV does not have a scart connection,
The real problem is that I have some idea of what I am doing but I was foolish enough to assume that Philips products would be compatible with one another.
My original question to Philips was answered with guidance on software updates so clearly I was wasting my time asking them.
I have now changed the DVD player to one with an HDMI connection and I am using that to connect my TV.
I just wish Philips had cared enough to answer my question.
Thanks again for your interest.
Regards

Hi flangewick,
You TV, 46PFL5007H/12, does have a SCART connection:
http://philips.to/1hHRL3f
You merely need to use the supplied SCART converter that converts a standard SCART plug to the Mini SCART port of your TV.
Your DVD player is in fact compatible with your TV as far at this is concerned.
Best regards,

Hello Ina,
There was no converter in the box. Had there been, I might have understood.
I am still disappointed that Philips didn't make any attempt to help, after all they just needed to say what you have said and I would have been OK.
I have now replaced the player with DVP2880/12 and it is fine although just as a matter of interest there were no cables in this box either.
Thanks again for you help.
Regards
