    HTS8100 very low volume even I max the volume setting

    Just thought I would share my problem with my HTS8100 as discussed in the following thread which is now closed

    I too had the same problem. I replaced the big cap on the primary side of the power supply board (My board was a different version to the one in the thread above as it only had one cap populated - 120uf 400V). This improved the sound but at max it was the equivalent of level 5.

    Aslo, the STRX6759 regulator ic had to be changed and now all working again

    evening group..i found this group after my hts8100 did the no volume just a faint sound even on max.what i did find after reading about unplugging the power lead from the bar...as a faint like static spark on the metald shield as i pluged it back in.it did work a few times but not now.out off warranty iv took the power board out and is off to my local component shop to have the two caps and the strx65759 ic replaced...thanks for the info from the group...will get back you when its done...fingers crossed...thanks justin

    update..had both caps renewed..got it home..powered up...same problem..this is the second phillips sound systems iv had NEVER AGAIN..they only last a few years...rant over
