Unhappy Playback issues with "20th Century Fox" movies

    BDP8000/12

BD Playback judder & slow playback
with 20th Century Fox movies only

    The Maze Runner (Region B/2)
    AACS Media Key Block V39
    BD+
    Bus Encryption

    RoboCop (Region B/2)
    AACS Media Key Block V36
    BD+
    Bus Encryption

Is there any change to get a firmware update or is the only way to stop playing with the fair rules and starting downloading every movie for free instead?

A new player perhaps? I will not recommend a specific brand but it might be time to try something "new".

The lost wifi settings issue is far from new, but a solution from Philips Support is still unheard of.

Downloading movies might not help you that much either since several .MKVs that are within the player's specs (and work with an equally speced Philips) TV are not supported by the BDP8000...

Oh well.. I paid almost 500 euros of this BD player three years ago. I really thought there would be more support for this than firmware updates for the first 2 years.
New 3D BD movies are €29,90 ($32) in my country.

My next BD player will probably have some better brand. In my point of view when the customer support sucks it makes the brand suck too.
I'll probably go with Oppo (those models with QDEO chip).

Philips BDP8000/12 (released on 2010 / last firmware update on 2012)
Philips BDP9700/12 (released on 2012 / last firmware update on 2014)

That BDP9700 (with QDEO chip) is still priced as 399 euros on many stores.

..according to that history it sounds like Philips only offers software updates for 2 years And that sucks because new discs can and will introduce new copy protections.. and that sucks because those people who buy movies won't copy them. Those who likes to share will always find a way to decrypt any protections. That default copy protection would be enough for customers who buys these to prevent them making (simple) copies to their friends (and who the heck really does that anyway these days? We have Netflix and other streaming services that doesn't cost much).

Everything costs so much in my country that I have to deal with this case by Decrypting BD movies and burning them to BD-RE discs or playing those Blu-ray rips with my Western Digital WDTV Media Player.

Issues with "RoboCop (Region B/2)" too. Movie is unplayable. Same issues with two of my friends players and they have different Philips BD players.
