    Imposible to upgrade in any ways please urgent help needed

    Hello I may have posted this message in a bad section of the forum ( under smart tv software) and all my apologies.

    Since I have not received any support from a week on now, I try my best here

    Hello everyone

    I possess a 21/9 gold model which is 2 years of age by now.
    I bought it from philips online store ( France)
    firmware installed is 96 and current sf is 000.014.105.000

    I have tried almsot everything to upgrade with NO success

    - tv says firmware is up to date although it is clearly not
    - I downloaeded firmware from philips site installed it on usb stick on root ---------> tv says : no file found !
    - I called in last resort philips support, they did send me usb stick with firmware - closed the tv - plugged stick - opened tv -------------> no file found on usb stick !!!!!

    How Can it be posible not to be able to upgrade my TV, I find it very very disapointing.

    From the day I bought the TV I never could upgrade it by myself !

    Philips sent me a techy last year for the same problem and after 1/2 hour or so he managed to upgrade it to 96

    now it's again imposible to get out of this messy situation and of course warranty is off now, tech. will not come anymore under warranty

    please if somebody have had similar issue can he share experience so that I feel less stupid

    Why so many read and nobody tries to help ?

    If somebody has ever had the same problems please advise how to solve

    I am a philips tv owner for more than 20 years now and it is the first time that I ever experience a small problem on any of my purchase so the reliabilty is for me TOP

    This small problem I am sure can find a solution if we cooperate

    I have an idea, what's wrong.

    Please do the following:
    - go into TV mode
    - press 123654 => the CSM is started
    - press cursor down
    - now tell us the exact firmware: something with Q5553 or Q5551

    Hi,

    well short story:
    - you have already firmware 14.101 installed
    - your mainboard of your TV (50pfl7956h/12) has the wrong firmware
    => that should be the reason, why you cannot install firmware 14.105

    long story:
    - your TV is one of 3 TVs which should have originally the "Q5553" firmware (besides the M/08 models)
    - thats the reason the firmware you get from the support website does not work
    - was the mainboard changed in the past?

    solution:
    - you can install the Q5551 firmware from the K model: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/c...=50PFL7956K/02

    (if you have guarantee, you should call service and said, that your mainboard has Q5551 firmware instead of Q5553)

    Well first of all thank you very much for your cristal clear explanation !

    But hearing this brings up interogations because my mainborad have not been changed at all !
    As I said I have never experienced problems on philips product, the only thing I can remember is that a technician came and upgraded my firmware earlier last year. Is that the reason ? I don't know

    what are the difference between Q5551 and Q5553 ?
    Is it a big drawback or I can just upgrade as if from the 7956k without much importance

    there is almost no difference - the Q5553 has some additional software for the market in Italy.

    Hi,

    they are not country based...

    Short
    - Mainboard hardware is the same
    - Software is sometimes different

    And the TV always checks, if a software is allowed to be installed. So you cannot make any mistake!

    big question is: why do you have the "wrong" firmware on your mainboard? Did you bought this TV as a new set or was it a used one?
