    Satellite reception problems

    Hi,

I have just bought a 40pfl8008k/12 with Ci module (Canal Digitaal) and the reception of several TV channels is very bad while other channels display fine. If I use my digital receiver using the same cable, the reception on all channels is fine.
I have read more complains about this, but no answers unfortunately....

    What I have tried:
    - update TV software
    - update CI software
    - flush flash memory
    - power off tv for 2 minutes, remove ci card, reinstall tv completely, insert ci module
    - chat with Philips technical support
    - cry.....

    Any ideas?

    Hi Roel_v_W,

Please check the signal strength and signal quality of the channels you are experiencing issues with.

When on the affected channel, press OPTIONS on the remote and select Status. Here you will find information about the signal information on the specific channel.

Please also check the signal information on non-affected channels.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same problems. Have this TV since dec 2013, using it exclusively for DVB-S(2) with original Canal Digitaal CAM in the internal CI slot and Freesat channels on 28.2. I have done multiple FW upgrades, but no improvements at all.

I have absolutely no problems with the Freesat channels on 28.2, but several Canal Digitaal channels are almost unwatchable.

    Just checked the signal information:
Ned1 HD (very frequent video/audio interruptions, severe blocky/chunky display on lower 30% of the screen, partially frozen frames):
    12187MHz, Horizontal, 27500 kS/s
    Signal strength: 90
    Signal quality: 82 (BER: 0.0 x 1E-6)

    Ned2 HD (perfect quality)
    11739 MHz, Vertical, 27500 kS/s
    Signal strength: 84
    Signal quality: 81 (BER: 0.0 x 1E-6)

This is just an example: I have good channels on Horizontal and on Vertical transponders, so no correlation.

NGC is particularly bad: completely unwatchable / inaudible.
    12129 MHz, Vertical, 27500 kS/s
    Signal strength: 86
    Signal quality: 78 (BER: 3.3 x 1E-6)

    Hello Stanley,

The problem is solved by Philips. It turned out to be a known problem in the tv hardware. Philips send over an engineer who made a small modification on the motherboard of the tv (he added a small capacitator I think). This took about five minutes and after that, the tv works fine!

    Regards, Roel
