Connect Android device to 42PFL6158K via Miracast

    Hi,

I bought a 42PFL6158K Philips TV two weeks ago and I'd like to connect my Android device (Asus Transformer Book Trio) to my TV via Miracast.

My Android tablet is Miracast capable (Andoid 4.2.2 with screen sharing mode). Wi-Fi Miracast in ON on my TV (checked it under Network settings > Wi-Fi Miracast).

My Android device is able to see the wireless network created by the TV for the Miracast connection, but when I try to search nearby wireless Miracast display from my Android tablet (from the screen sharing mode menu) I got a "No device available"...

Does anyone know how to connect an Android 4.2.2 to a Philips TV via Miracast?

    Thanks in advance!
    Niniel

    Hi Niniel,

You need to check with Asus if your Transformer Book supports HDCP with Miracast. Your TV requires an HDCP connection to accept connections from Miracast devices.

    Hi,

it's not correct, what Ina stated. Your TV (6xx8) only supports Miracast connections WITHOUT HDCP. Your Asus need to establish an connection without HDCP.

    Hi,

Has requested, I checked with Asus.
My Transformer Book Trio is not able to use HDCP via Miracast

I Googled a bit to see if it it's possible to turn OFF HDCP on Android, and it seems that this option is enable by default on Android and there is no way (except custom ROM) to turn it OFF.

Because you seem to know better than me how Miracast and HDCP work, do you know if there is a way to turn it OFF?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Niniel.

As far as I'm aware in regards to HDCP in Android devices, it is not possible for end users to disable this as it is "built" into the Miracast standard used by the specific manufacturer. Same as it is not possible to enable it if the Miracast standard used does not require HDCP.

In short: No, it's not possible, as far as I am aware.

    Best regards,

    Hi Niniel,

I'm on a similair quest to find an Andriod phone that will work with my 8008. HDCP is not android specific, but some just have Miracast with HDCP and others just don't. Galaxy S4 does Miracast with HDCP, but the Galaxy S4 mini doesn't. Also LG Nexus 4 doesn't use HDCP

    Hi,

I heard, that the CyanogenMod allows to switch on/off the HDCP encryption... But I cannot confirm/deny.

I heard that too, but I don't want to use a custom ROM on my tablet.
    Thanks any way

Wait and see if it will be possible to disable HDCP on the next Android update...

Thank you all for your help!

    Best regards,
    Niniel
