Ina, can you please share Philips position about DTS for 6xx8 series.

People are wondering and nagging around and there is no official answer from YOU.

With every update we wait these magic words: "DTS ENABLED" but there is only silence.

So please let us know if there is any consideration in your HQ.

    Hi,

Yes, it seems like they don't want to react any messages that contain "DTS for the 6xx8 series".

There is one forum member called -toengel@alex- and it seems like he knows a lot more about the Philips TV's than usual customers know. He told in one or two topics that Philips won't enable DTS sound for these models because of a marketing reason. I absoluty don't want to disrespect toengel@alex' knowledge, but in this case i hope he is wrong and Philips will enable soon the DTS function!!!!

Untill now we didn't have an offical statement from Philips about DTS for the 6xx8 series.

I do so agree with you!! I'm so regret I bought Philips... I paid more for Philips than for the competitors TVs and I got a worst product.

At least remove the Smart TV label from the Philips products, that so consumers will not get cheated.

I'm sniffing around the forum trying to find somebody saying there is a solution but it seems we are doomed!!

    Hi,

DTS was working on 6xx8 with one leaked firmware version. But the next official firmware does not show any DTS support. So, we know, DTS is working on 6xx8 but it's not enabled.

    Hi all,

There appears to be some misinformation going around the forum. Although it has been addressed several times in the past throughout the forum, the same question keeps coming back.

So to dispel this confusion I will set the record straight regarding DTS on the 6xx8 devices again:

DTS is not and will not be supported on the 6xx8 models.

DTS has never been intended nor advertised to be supported on this series. This decision can and will not be addressed in the future.

DTS is only supported on the 7xx8, 8xx8 and 9xx8 series (2013).

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Ina,
Thanks for answer. Finally we have something firm to discuss about.

    I have another one:
How it could be that such NICE TV does not have such basic option? As cheaper models have it.

Now I can really blame myself for not reading full specs of every TV when I was looking which one to buy.

You must agree that lots of customers feel deceived as they did not check SPECIFICALLY about one important feature - DTS.

If i knew before my purchase - I would have bought Samsung instead.(as could not image about such possible flaw in newest middle range TVs). My bad.

So, last question for PHILIPS company.
ARE YOU CUSTOMER ORIENTATED OR A ONE TIME GAIN COMPANY.
There is a chance for Philips so stand out an say that they can manage to deliver what their customers need OR just silently say - "YOU SCREWED, get along. Next time buy more expensive TV"

Please prove me wrong but TV's hardware is capable and there is just model specific software limitations.

I cannot and will not comment on other manufacturer's TV specifications, for obvious reasons.

Now I can really blame myself for not reading full specs of every TV when I was looking which one to buy.

You must agree that lots of customers feel deceived as they did not check SPECIFICALLY about one important feature - DTS.
In fear of being too blunt in regards to checking for "one important feature" before purchase I will also not reply to this query.

The decision was made for several reasons, one of them was in regards to marketing. The feedback you are all giving via the forum has been evaulated. Please however see my previous post.

    Respectfully,
    Ina

It is a pity that Phillips can not keep up with the standards of other companies. For years I was loyal to this firm and I did not expect that to fail. When buying 47PFL6008 not noticed it does not have DTS, I did not know at all what it is. It turned out that what I need is DTS and for a similar price or even less I could buy a TV with DTS another firm. The proposal to change the company suggests itself.

Same to me, didn't noticed about the DTS sound. But the 6008 is a nice Tv. It would be much nicer with DTS !! Unfortunately we can't make anything!

The crazy thing about this TV is that there is NO hardware limitation! Just a limtitation because people don't want to activate it!

Thanks to every forum member for requesting DTS support
    for this model.

Thanks, Ina for your answer - it's not your fault!!
