    Gapless playback support

    Hello,

I have an aw1000 network streamer that I am generally pleased with but which does not seem to support gapless playback. In fact, the gap between tracks being played back is quite long and this is pretty much a deal-killer for listening to albums of classical music.

Is there an expectation of this feature being supported in the future through firmware updates? Or some way to reduce the delay between tracks?

    Dear 0b5cur1ty,

    1. What is the source you're streaming from?
    2. Are you using AirStudio+ app?
    3. How long approximately are the gaps (in seconds)?

    Kind regards,
    Philips Moderation Team

    Hello,

Thanks for your prompt reply. To answer your questions:

    1. I'm streaming from my NAS (UnPP server).
    2. Yes, I'm using the AirStudio+ app.
    3. The gap between the end of the preceeding track and the beginning of the next is a (seemingly consistent) 6 seconds or more.

It's probably worth noting my music library is encoded in apple lossless format.

    Dear 0b5cur1ty,

This is a normal and expected behaviour of the device.

Per my experience, Gapless playback looks difficult because it is in wireless environment.

Thanks for your response, but that doesn't answer the question I posed: I'm aware there is no gapless playback now, my question is whether this can/will be implemented in the future. A gap of 6+ seconds between tracks might be 'normal' behaviour for this product now, but makes listening to classical music painful. It's certainly enough to make me regret buying the device if there's no prospect of improvement.

Thanks for posting, I'm using a wired ethernet connection however (connected directly to the same router as the NAS).

You can try to use mp3 file, which will has less gap.

Thanks for the tip. I have noticed this seems to work with one of the few albums I have in mp3 format, but don't really want to move to a lossy format for my whole music library.
