AW2000 - MediaManager does not see Synology DiskStation

    Hi,

I have a Synology DiskStation in my network with a lot of Music on it.
MediaManager, delivered with my AW2000, does not see the Music. I can select DiskStation in the left top window but the librairy stays empty ....

    Is this MediaManager any good?

    Bernd

    Hi Rafal,

Yes, I can play music from DiskStation with the mentioned app without any problem.
All music items are visible, the album is shown etc.

My Win7-64x PC also sees the DiskStation folder "Music" and WMP plays the music OK.
It is Philips' MediaManager whichs shows an empty screen when selecting DiskStation.

When I select LaCie-Cloudbox with MediaManager, another mediacenter on my network, then I see all the music on that drive.

Twonky seems to be a little allergic for Synology .....

By the way, I have DSM 5.0 4418-update 1 installed on my DiskStation.

Hi BerndGaykema, it seems related to Twonky did you try to play your DSM from WMP to AW2000 ?

If it works, it seems really related to Twonky, you can also contact to them

With Windows Media Player I do not have any issue: that is working fine.

It is a problem for Philips, not Twonky .... .
I bought a Philips audio device with "attached" a Philips MediaManager: this last product is not working correctly on my Win7-64x PC with IE11.

So I wait for Philips to come with a decent explanation

Have you installed Twonky Media Manager from there directly ? http://twonky.com/downloads/

I have tried to install it by keeping my previous setting, maybe good to try as hints to Philips too.

I use this TwonkyManager (in cute orange) and it finds all my MediaServers. See the photo I've attached. I'll dig out later my Synology NAS and check if it can be found ...

Well, here is the update from my other network ...
It happily finds the NAS from Synology DS210j.

Yes, mine is also found, but when you read my first post you will see that it the music itself which is not found.
So MediaManager is finding the Synology NAS but not the music content on it.

The Android App AirStudio+ works great with the content as well as all other media players I have.

So, do you have music on your Synology DiskStation?
If so, can you play it with the MediaManager from Philips?

    Which browser are you using?
    Which operating system?
    32 or 64 bits?

    Thank you.

The title misses the last word "content", sorry

I use WIN7-32 or WIN7-64. On both it works fine.
I just retried it, my DS210j can be properly explored (and even I can send music to my AW or TV).
I run on that NAS the SW 4.3-3810. Furthermore, I run in the Package Centre - Media Server 1.1.2407.
Would assume you also run that Media Server in the Package Centre.

I saw there is a new FW available, 5.0.4458 available. Will try that a bit later ...

Cute, this new FW (of the NAS). So you spend a late night 20 minutes to upgrade, just to see that now 9 packages in the Package Centre report -- the version you run is incompatible. Great, so another few minutes down the drain ...

Update, out of the 9, 3 packages failed to install on the first attempt. Getting some cold beer ...

Finally, I've upgraded all the 9 packages, run the latest FW (incl. MediaServer Version 1.2-2489).
Interesting child birth ... ... Anyhow.

Now, still the same. DS210j and this orange Twonky thing works fine. No problem ........

Good night ! That's it for today.

Blechtrottel, thanks for all your work.

I went through the same process regarding DiskManager. I already had version 5 but have upgraded to the latest version yesterday, including the upgrade of all packages.

I now have the DS213J up-to-date with the beta version 5

Question: which Twonky software did you install:
    - the latest from the Philips website (3.0.1)
    - the latest from the Twonky website (3.1)

I've used few combinations. The current working one is ...

Philips TwonkyManager 3.0.1 (the orange one)
    TwonkyServer (as found via http://twonky.com/downloads/) V 7.2.6.

    (they both can co-exist ...)
