    Problem with scheduled recordings

    Hello.
I have trouble with my 4500 series Philips.

I have a USB device attached to the TV, meant for recording of whatever's on TV. After purchase of the TV, I set it up and formatted the device. Everything worked.

Then there was a power shortage of some kind, at a time when I wasn't around and during a recording. All I know is that I couldn't play back that recording ('recording failed' it said, don't recall the exact wording).

After that, whenever I schedule a recording and turn the TV to standby mode from the main control button on the remote control, the USB device turns off (it didn't before). Obviously that means it'll never record. Curiously, the USB device stays on when I turn the TV to standby mode about 1 or 2 minutes before the scheduled recording is meant to take place. More than 5 minutes, the device turns off. If I keep the TV on, the recording does take place and also, I can watch previous recordings from the hard disk.

I don't know if I followed protocol, but I just formatted the hard disk again. That did not help.

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Hi josefk,

Could you please confirm the complete model number of your TV and also the current software version installed?

When you say you have formatted the hard disk again, did you try to format it via PC to a PC file system before letting the TV format it again for recording?

    Best regards,
    Ina

Hi. Thank you for the reply.

Sorry, the model number is 32PFL4508H/12.
Hmm, I haven't updated the software since buying the TV. From the 'Setup-Software settings' panel I gather the release version which is TPM1013E.002.021.000.001.

Correct, I formatted the hard disk via PC and then connected it to the TV and allowed the TV to format is once more. That did not solve the issue.

    Hi josefk,

The latest software version for your TV is 3.2.0.1. You can find the software and installation instructions here:

    Hello.

I have now applied the suggested update, but unfortunately it did not solve my problem. When I schedule the device to record and turn the TV off, the USB hard disk device still turns off and the scheduled recording never takes place (& the TV's external red dot appears on the front of the display). That's not normal behaviour, is it? I thought that it would keep the hard disk alive and the red dot would not appear, but something's not right there.

    Hi josefk,

In the meantime the SW updated to version 3.05, could you check the version you actually installed on the TV?

Try to disable HbbTV top see if this makes a difference:
HOME > [Setup] > [General settings] > [Hbbtv] > Off

What's the make and model of the hard disk you are using?

    Best regards,

The software version I now have is TPM1013E_003.005.000.001.

HOME > [Setup] > [General settings] > [Hbbtv] > Off
I'm afraid I could not find the HbbTV setting under [Setup]-[TV settings]-[General settings] or any other place.

What's the make and model of the hard disk you are using?
    Toshiba Stor.E alu 2
    USB 2.0
    500 mA
    320 GB

    Funnily it worked before.

    Hi josefk,

Is it possible for you to test a different hard disk at all?

Due to the power outage it is not really possible to say if it's the TV or the hard disk that is the cause of the issue. Therefore if you can try a different hard disk it would be helpful.

    Best regards,
    Ina
