    Flickering ambilight

    Hi
I have problem since last firmware with my 8708.
Ambilight flicker when source connected to several inputs like PS4 or Dune 303D streamer.
Even after turning to other source after using PS 4, still flickering.
Nead to unplug from power and then it become ok till next time connected to my PS 4 or Dune streamer.

    Hi,

so, what's the current firmware on your TV? Did you pull power cord for 2-3 minutes?

    Hi amitgv1,

Are you sure it's the Ambilight that is flickering and not the perhaps the backlight?

    Hi Ina
I am sure. Its the upper left and left side.
Try connect PS4 to the 60pfl8708 and you notice the ambilight flicker.
Also other types of contents, but i am not sure what type of movies.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,

In this case I would advise you to contact local customer service as your TV/Ambilight may require service:

    Hi!

I seem to have the same issue. I've had the Philips Elevation 60PFL8708S/12 for about a month now and it's running with the latest firmware. I don't know about earlier versions about the firmware as I upgraded just as I got the TV set up.

When watching normal TV channels the ambilight is smooth. However, when using my media streamer the ambilight is flickering/blinking the in left side of the TV. Right side is smooth.

The issue is not constant but from time to time the flickering/blinking starts and stops. It's quite annoying when you first start to observe it. It's almost like ambilight is "buffering" and can't keep up with the signal. Strangely only in the left side.

Amit, did you contact the customer service yet or did you find a way to fix it?

I'm thinking of trying a different HDMI cable and different port but maybe it would be the same.

    Hi jimmy
I already tried another HDMI but still the same problem.
Also found old firmware and it didnt solve the problem.
Tried a lot of changes in configuration, but nothing
Quite upset. I didnt contacted the service center yet, because i am afraid they damage the TV, so i tried everything in order to solve the problem, But it seems to be an hardware problem
Next week i'll call the service center & i'll update the forum.

    OK, thanks for the update.

I watched a movie yesterday and didn't notice any flickering. Both sides were smooth. I didn't have the TV running before switching to my media streamer.

I'm wondering if the flickering issue could be triggered by some bad signal from another input or something. Or perhaps if the TV has been on for many hours and then suddenly starts to flicker.

Are you able to provoke the flickering somehow? Do you have the flickering also when watching TV?

    Hi all.

The Ambilight could potentially be influenced by the input material. Unless the flickering is consistent and on reliable sources (DVB broadcast, Bluray or DVD direct playback, not ripped material), then it is likely to be due to the material being played back.

A thought would be to look at the media you are playing perhaps. If the material is a file, check that the codec of your computer are up to date and try ripping it again. Does this perhaps improve on the flickering?

Also, again ensure you have one of the latest software versions actually installed. This needs to be checked manually through the Software settings menu, as not all versions are pushed to the TVs via network.

    Best regards,
    Ina
