    Findings so far:
    - Dvb-t guide is gone. There is nothing even after refresh. I guess it also makes usb recording impossible (i'm not using it). Tv still shows info about current program if 'i' button is pressed.
    - Overscan seems fixed
    - The infamous big difference in volume between steps 10 and 11 is still there. How hard is it to fix this?
    - When playing pictures through dlna there is some sound from tv creeping in every now and then

I'll wait some more days to see if random handing on startup is fixed.

    TV Model: 39PFL4218H

Positive/Negative points posted in technical thread.

Tried to use a 16GB USB flash drive to timeshift. TV formatted it and tested speed, which was OK, but actually refused to save to it saying the available space was not enough.
Fair enough. Now I completely erased it (reset partition scheme, redo partition, reformat FAT32), but I have the feeling that the TV somehow remembers that this drive was previously configured: when connecting it, the TV does not try anymore to show its content (as it did before, and as it still does with other drives), while I can still manually do it using the Menu.
But a little more annoying is the fact that if I try to save the channels list on USB, it always fails for this drive.

So what can be done to revert the situation ?

@cyrius: timeshift and recording have different requirements. For timeshift > 4GB is needed and for recording > 32GB is needed. Regarding your problem i have no idea.

    @frgo
Since you mention it, indeed timeshift was OK and that was recording which was denied. I don't have anything to say about the requirements for recording, which are fine by me.
My remaining issue is that I cannot re-use the drive to save the channels list to - and maybe some other things may not work as expected (like automatically showing its content when plugging it). This is a minor issue, but I hope it can be fixed somehow (maybe in a future firmware).

    Hi Cyrius.

If an HDD has been formatted for use with Time Shift or Recording it cannot be used for any other functions. It is hereafter dedicated to the PVR function only.

You can therefore not view files or store files on it in it's current state. You would need to re-format it using a computer to a standard supported file system to use it for other purposes again.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi,

As said in my initial post, that's what I did (format to FAT32).
The TV still does not behave like before with this drive: no more automatic content browsing when plugging it, and failure to save the channels list to USB, while both functions were OK before I tried the PVR function.

I even completely (low-level) erased the content and re-partitioned/re-formatted it just to be sure.
The drive works OK in PC but this TV still does not behave normally with it. If plugged in another TV - 22PFL3108H - it behaves as expected (automatic browsing of content, and saving channels to USB works), so the drive definitely sounds OK, only this 39PFL4218H TV fails to behave properly with it, which is why it looked like the TV somehow remembered it had been used for PVR and would not behave as expected because of it.

    Hi Ina,

as far as i have tested, HbbTV is still not really 100% functional as long as an USB harddisk is connected.

Have reproduced the following things now:

    1. After reboot, standard recording and HbbTV is present in parallel. After going through some operations, HbbTV can be lost again. If HbbTV is not present, i can get it back pressing red recording button and then abort instead of start.

    2. Standard recording or recording from guide seems to work out always. But time-shift not. If time-shift doesn't work it can be "activated" again by moving through "home" to "recordings" and leaving recordings again selecting nothing. Then "pause" and "run" work out.

There are definetely still some strange software loops built in to be eliminated.

Overall speed versus TPM1013E_003.002.000.001 is much slower again.

    Best regards,

    Willi

EPG actually works if you manually refresh and then pres up or down button... I'm still not sure if usb recording works this way.

The reading from the smartcard (CAM) is incredably slow... dont know if this is caused by the software but i guess that the software controls it.

    Hi Cyrius.

How about a different drive? Same issue?

Other drives do not exhibit the issue, for both this TV and the other one.
Only the drive with which I once tried PVR, and only on this TV.
