47PFL7606 Cannot properly stream movies from network

My 47PFL7606 cannot properly stream movies from my QNAP NAS with Twonky Media Server.

Movies play, but cannot be fast forwarded or rewind. SRT subtitles do not work, though they are in the same folder with the same name as the movie file. Firmware is up to date. TVis connected to router thru UTP cable.

Problems do not arise when playing from USB stick.

According to this thread: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...hp/t-2704.html, there used to be more Philips customers experiencing similar problems with subtitles. Philips did not really seem to care.

Response of consumer service was slow and they failed to come up with a solution.

Does anybody recognize the problem and, more important, does anybody know a solution?

    Hi Stego.

Your TV does not support more than one file stream at a time over network. Therefore the TV does not support external subtitles. Please use embedded subtitles for this purpose.

In regards to fast forward and rewind, please ensure that the Twonky device profile is set to Philips TV 2012.

    Best regards,
    Ina

My QNAP NAS runs Twonky 6.0.39. It automatically detects Media Receivers and recognizes my TV as "Philips Renderer TV". Another option is "Philips TV". I tried that but that does not fix the problem. There is no option "Philips TV 2012". QNAP SW is up-to-date.

This post in QNAP forum suggests that there is something wrong with definition for Philips TV in Twonky. This guy is experiencing the same problem as me.

    Hi Stego.

In this case it will be up to QNAP to upgrade the Twonky version on their NAS units. Please refer you query to them directly

    Hello Ina,

I have read this explanation for several Philips models and I am experiencing the same behavior: I can only get subtitles when using MKV with embedded subtitles.
However, my TV manual as well as other models' state that the TV supports TXT, Substation Alpha V4, Advanced Substation Alpha V4+ and DVB subtitles when using a Media Server. I would like to know in what cases that happens, as I was unable to make those subtitles work except via USB.

Here is a pic from an old thread regarding this same issue in which the user showed the supported subtitle formats (same as my TV):

By the way, my TV model es 32PFL4508G/77.

In my experience, when this happens is because the server is transcoding.

    Thanks and regards,

    Andrew
