It's good to see a fix for a security issue, but besides that the change log is quite disappointing for almost two months of development.

Unfortunately I don't see a fix for the audio sync issue with 5.1 streams on HDMI inputs

The dynamic backlight is still crap. I guess it's more important to fix obscure issues than improve the image quality.

    Hi DannyN,

I'm sorry you feel that security issues and rebooting are obscure issues. Unfortunately they are not however.

I will add to my report that you are still experiencing the same issues with Dynamic Backlight.

    Best regards,

Even though "crap" is not a very specific term of feedback, I have to agree with Danny. We paid decent money to get a high-end tv. While issue's like the progress bar for Bulgarian people get fixed, basic functionality like the 5.1 HMDI delay, PNM and dynamic backlight remain unsolved? that seems a bit off, if the electrical system of your house breakes down would you paint the walls of your fusebox first?

    [Update]

Software version 173.50 will be added to this software thread.

    What does this SW do:
Version 173.50 is essentially a scaled down version of the current software (173.49). The reduction in size was necessary as the file size rendered the TV unable to upgrade via IP (network).

    What is an IP upgrade?
This allows us to send updates directly to TVs connected to the internet via our update servers. And also for users to retrieve the updates directly on the TV's Software menu without the need to update with a USB stick.

    Best regards,

    Yeah,
this was really the most important problem to solve.
Unimportant aggressive Dynamic Background or 'so-called' Perfect Natural Motion crap...
    Congratulations Philips IT Specialists!

    Congratulations Philips IT Specialists!

    Hi gelo29,

"Crap" is not a very specific in terms of feedback. Please keep the language used in the forum to a more pleasant tone in future. Perhaps it will serve everyone better in the long run.

I have read your other thread in this forum section. I do not see an actual software related issue with what you are reporting, but rather the limitation of the PNM feature.

Please have a look at the following post regarding HD Natural Motion in our 2012 TVs, as it also goes a long way to explain certain aspects of PNM in our 2013 TVs:
    http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ll=1#post46919

If the PNM processing appears to have changed from one SW version to another, please do indicate this, as this type of feedback is most welcome.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hello Ina,
in fact, maybe I acted too emotional.
So, I am very sorry for that...
But - do not be astonished, because there are no positive changes in PNM fuction among various firmware versions.
PNM problem is present on my TV in EVERY firmware - form the beginnig until now.
Maybe sometimes it is a little, little better, but sometimes it is a little worse.
Not obvious and noticable improvements at all.
Far from 'Perfect' and far from what I got on my 47pfl9703 TV (in my old 47pfl9703 PNM was really almost perfect and smooth, with only very few fast-motion artifacts).
If You read my previous posts You should notice, that I was checking PNM on two other 46pfl8008s models and even on older (but form the highest series) - 46pfl9703 model.
And this issue is present on all those TV sets.
So, I think this is common bug and Philips IT engineers know exactly what is going on and exactly what I am talking about.
Somehow, they can't or don't want to solve that issue...

Yes, I've previously read the post (link given by You).
It doesn't bring anything new and partialy is not true.
You absolutley don't have to believe my words - just look at the motion interpolation function of 24/25/30p .MKV films, which is implemeted on SONY latest LED TV models.
Can it be done almost pefectly?
The answer is: yes, it can be done.
So, to Phlips engineers: don't use many unnecessarily arguments - just fix it, please...

I have to agree that PNM is not perfect on 55pfl8008.
On my previous set 47pfl6067 it was not perfect either, so the conclusion was: not to use it.
My major concern is the dynamic backlight, since clouding is present on the set I wanted to reduce this issue by using DB.
But as stated on other topics, Dynamic Backlight will reduce the sight of clouding, but also reduces the fun of watching tv in dark scenes!
So hopefully there is a fix for this, so I can use Dynamic Backlight in a way to reduce clouding effects and keep the dark scenes "watchable

    Hi gelo29,

We have other very good reports in regards to PNM processes having changed in recent firmwares. But I cannot deduct any actual bug from the information you are giving.

That it's present in other TVs of the same software platform only tells me very little and not in fact that it is a bug.

Please, give me more to give back to the developers than this. I will happily acknowledge it if you give me more to go on. Going back to the developers and telling them that PNM behaves the same way on other sets with the same FW won't do much good.

What other TV manufacturers do on their TVs is not of my concern in regards to software feedback on our TVs.

    Best regards,
    Ina

    gamelover,

but I want to use PNM.
All the more - it can be applied correctly in TVs of the other brands.
So, why should I give up on this in Philips?
Of course, dynamic backlight is the other problem and I have similar feelings than You.

    Don't get me wrong:
It was MY conclusion for ME not to use PNM anymore.
Of course it should work nice, then I would consider using it again.

Dynamic backlight fix is more important to me, but that's my personal opinion.
