    46PFL3909 Streaming from Laptop

I did a quick search for this and did not see anything relating to my problem. If this has already been discussed please accept my apologies and if you can point me in the right direction.

I have the 46PFL3909 and want to be able to stream the movies that I have on my network. When I look at my computer under the devices it says its not supported. What do I need to do to set my tv/network up to be able to watch these movies (hopefully without a 3rd part piece of equipment)

    Thank you,

    Cgaskins

    Hi Cgaskins,

Could you please double check your TV model number? The model number you have given is not valid.

When you say "look at my computer under the devices it says its not supported", where are you seeing this? If it's in regards to Windows 7 certification it is not relevant.

Please give more info about the media server (Windows Media Player, Twonky, Serviio...?) you are using and give your correct TV model number then we can assist you better.

    Thanks!

My TV model umber was incorrect. It should have been 46PFL3908.
My TV and computer are connected to the same network.
    I am running Windows 8.1.
I would be using Windows Media, however I am open to any other suggestions for media servers. I am new to the "smart TV" community and just looking to be able to watch my collection of .avi, .mp4 and so on movies on my TV in the easiest way.

This is the menu that I am choosing my computer from:

This is the error that comes up:

    (Sorry about the pic quality)

    Hi Cgaskins,

The second picture indicates that there is possibly an issue with the media server settings, that is not allowing the TV access to your files.

If you are using Windows Media Player, please contact Microsoft for assistance in setting up the media sharing of your PC, to allow the TV to access the files.

The only settings on the TV that need to be enabled is the Renderer settings. You can do this by going to Home Network settings on your TV.

HOME > Network > Home Network > Renderer > On

    Best regards,
    Ina
