    Philips 65pfl9708s 4K YouTube Videos in 4K?

    Hi

Does the YouTube app in the Philips 65pfl9708s support playback of 4K youtube videos in 4K?

In the PC app, I can adjust the options of the movie by selecting 2160 Quality.

    Example movie:

I can't seem to find out how to select video quality in the TV app.

    Please advice,
    best Regards

    Karl

    Hi Karl,

the youtube App does not support 4k yet.
We did not get any hints from Youtube/Google when this will be implemented.

Besides that the 9708S does not have HEVC build in. So you would need a settop box or other 3rd party Devices, supporting HEVC-Codec.

    Hello Thomas,

I also have this UHD TV 65PFL9708S. Is there any way to have access to UHD content on this "UHD" TV ?
I know that nowadays there are not a lot of 4K native sources, but any time a company offer such content (Netflix, Youtube..) this "UHD" TV is unable to access it..
Moreover, I'm still waiting for the hdmi 2.0 upgrade that was promised at the IFA 2013. I paid almost 4,000€ for this TV and I'm very disappointed by the Philips support and updates that never come. This "state-of-the-art" TV is not perfect at all : this is not compatible at all with UltraHD standard (not good for a UHD tv...), the TV menus and smart TV is still veeery slow, and there are so many crashes that I need to restart and unplugged my TV at least once a day...
So when will Philips decide to offer a real upgrade for this premium UHD TV ?

    Hi,

this is something you must discuss with your local service.

In 2014 I bought the top of the line big screen UHD TV from Philips.

The salesman referred that Philips guarranted that this TV would meet future 4K standards by hardware or software Upgrades.
I have had allot of conversations With the Norwegian Philips customer support, without real progress. They informed that the Tv supported 4k by setting the Chroma Subsampling to 4:2:0

I got an 4K decoder from my TV distributor, which informs me that the Philips 65PFL9708s tv does not support HDCP 2.2 standard, and only got HDMi 1.4 inputs.

Apple customer support informs that my Apple Tv 4K are unable to support Chroma Subsampling 4:2:0 on an Tv witch not supports HDCP 2.2

My Popcorn Hour A500 mediaplayer plays 4k/30 video captured with my Gopro5 and Mavic Pro drone to the Philips 65PFL9708s with allot of stutters. The stuttering are caused by low bandwith on the HDMi 1.4 (all cables are HDMi 2.0)

How can Philips disclaim all responsibility when they sell me a UHD TV with guarantees of future 4k support, which now turns out to be just a full HD TV with internal scaling up to 4k?

What rights do we really have?

I'm an customer of Philips witch for many years always bought the top of the line TV's, and now they show me the finger....For what? saving money by not support me...How much will Philips loose in the years to come when non of us "top of the line" buyers changing their favorite brands?
