BDP9600 not supporting Profile Main@L4.0, can it be?
I´ve realized, that the player does not play HDTV recordings from certain TV stations (Das Erste HD, ZDF HD, arte HD) These recordings are in profile Main@L4.0 with 50fps and are either not recognized or stuck immediately.
Can this be? According to the codec table I have to assume, yes.
That would be a big disappointment for such a high price device.
Other brands had no problem to play those files. Any solution in sight?
Best regards
T. Hammer

Hi T. Hammer.
How do you make HD-recordings and how do you offer them to your BDP9600?

Hi,
the original ts stream from DVB-S2 (HDTV) is in Main@4.0 with 50fps (1280x720) on the PC. Raw format, no special receiver format or so.
Just conversion to mkv while keeping the profile does not work (remux). I have to select the settings to use High profile (3.x or 4.x) with 25 fps when creating the mkv file. And no, it has nothing to do with the converter or remuxer. It's the profile itself.
It does not make any difference whether they are stored on a DVD or USB device or via network. All Main@L4.0 do not work, but can be played with other BD players.

Hi,
if you see the supported codec list, only main (3.0, 3.1 and 3.2) and high (4.0 and 4.1) profile is supported.
However, I support the extension to main 4.0, if this is the standard format for TV broadcasts...

Not all, but some important ones with German language:
ZDF HD (50fps variable bitrate)
arte HD (50fps variable bitrate)
ORF 1 HD
ORF 2 HD
and more
Das Erste HD currently seems to use High@L4.0 (50fps variable bitrate) I've just checked that. But I have several recordings taken from that station, which are still in Main@L4.0 profile.

Hi,
the problem seems to be present in all BDPs - Please Philips, add Main 4.0 Support!
