    46PFL9704 Remote Control with BDP8000

    Hello,
the main reason I bought a Philips Bluray Player is cause of the compatibility. I don't wanna have a remote control for every single device. My Philips TV has a universal remote that I really like and with which I can control nearly everything. Thats wonderful. But I can not control the Bluray Player which makes me a little angry cause compatibility was my purchase decision.
Controlling it per CEC is also not possible because the universal remote of my tv combines play/pause on one button. So only "play" works but not "pause". Please give me a code so that I can program the universal remote to control the player or tell me how to workaround this.

    thx

I have my RC (9664 Tv ) working on my blu ray player but to be honest I never paused it so cannot say if it works. I know that all other things do work though......Let me check tonight to see if it works or not for me.

    Regards

Do you have play and pause also combined on one button? And do you also use CEC?

    Hi,

Just tested it and ity all works perfectly for me. Let met tell what I have at home:

42pfl9964H/12 with version 0.26.75.0 ( will upgrade to version 0.78 to see what happens, or maybe better not )
    BDP8000 with version 1.56

    Settings on TV:
    Easylink On
    Easylink Remote control On

    BDP8000:
    Easylink On
    One Touch Play On
    One Touch Stand By On

With these settings I am perfectly able to do all that I want, forward, play, pause etc...

Also found out that under the option key I have several options available...

Note I have tested with DVD´s( self burned ) and not with any blu-ray movies. Will do this also when I can.

    Regards,

Forgot to mention that indeed I use CEC and that I have that same button/complete same remote ( as far as I could find back our models are the same ).

Test my settings and see if it works

    Angry

Thanks for your advices. I had the same settings and did a few test with really fascinating results.

It works with all DVDs - didn't play them since Bluray is available. I tested old and new ones. All original. But it does not work with any Bluray I have!! Here are some that I used for testing

    Batman The Dark Knight
    Lord of the Rings
    Salt
    and more

I was not able to pause in only one of them. And it is not prohibited by the Bluray. I can pause the Blurays using the original remote control of the BDP8000. And I can resume the film using the remote control of my tv per CEC or Easylink. This is really a big bug! Hope to hear an official statement to this problem

    Hi,

with 2010 models one is able to show on-screen-remote keys (press option key and show remote keys or similar). If you have this option, can you pause with that?

Unfortunately I don't have the on-screen-remote keys Or I am not able to find them...
But this would be a workaround that I maybe could live with... (maybe). I don't understand why it works for DVDs but not for Blurays

    Hi,

These on screen buttons are not there with this model which is 2K9 but I think yes in some other ranges as 9705 which is 2K10.

I have not tried any Blu rays as said before but I have one question. Are all your blu ray discs BD-J ones or does it happen also with "normal" ones....

I think so... As far as I know there is no other system than BD-J except maybe, if you would burn your own blurays. But I don't own a bd burner so I cannot test this

Not all Blu ray´s are BD-J. I have tested though two at home yesterday and have the same behaviour. Also I tested a Panasonic Blu ray player from my neighbour and this one has the same problems, meaning with normal DVD´s all work but after with Blu ray´s you have issues.....

Seems more like a TV issue then an issue with the BDP

Did you try the BDP8000 at the TV of your neighbor? That would be really interesting

All I can imagine is, that the pause signal defined in the hdmi protocol is different for dvds and for blurays. For what it's worth... And that Philips forgot!! to implement this action. I could understand if it wouldn't work if you choose a different brand whose CEC implementation is incompatible with the one Phillips made. But Easylink should at least be compatible to Easylink

I tried that over the weekend but it was complete chaos ( firstly since he has a Tv that I never heard of Suntech)....with this remote nothing worked except play and I thought that at least some features are obligated....
