    BDP5200/05 - Freezes after 1 hour & no NetTV

    Dear All,

I have a BDP5200/05. It has worked without any problems for the past couple of years. In the last few months it has started freezing after 1 hour and 5 minutes of playback. This occurs every time I play a DVD or a file from a USB. Blu-rays work without any problems.

When it freezes you have to shut the whole system down and start again. The 1 hour and 5 minutes can occur accumulatively, so if I watch two 50 minute programmes, it will freeze 15 minutes into the second programme.

I have also found that NetTV does not appear to work. When I attempt to access it via the menu it simply hangs on a blue screen.

The BDP5200/05 is updated to v1.67.

It is connected by HDMI. It has been connected to the same TV since it was originally installed. The TV has not been changed or upgraded in anyway.

I have carried out several factory resets but this has not solved the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas? It will not be cost effective to have it serviced.

A specific question for Philips Support: will there be any firmware updates for the BDP5200/05 this year?

    Many thanks for your time.

try to install the update again, then make factory reset, then pull power cord for 5 Minutes.

    Any joy yet?
Mine had what sounds like an identical problem and the factory reset wasn't fixing it.
But clearing the NetTV memory as well seemed to do the trick.

    See http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ur-of-playback

    Good luck!

    Hello.

I tried clearing the NetTV memory and persisted with the factory resets. After about the fifth try it worked. My player is now operating as normal.

Thanks to both of you for the responses.

    Regards,

    K.
