Philips bdp 3100 Power will not switch off

Hi all, first post is a call for help.

This DVD player does mot switch off either from remote or on/off button on unit. The tray also will not open. When entering the setup menu, the menu auto scrolls up/down without any prompting from the remote unit. The USB input works fine however and the unit plays from this. The unit did this with the previous firmware (1.54) and I had hoped the new firmware update would clear the problem (ver 1.701) but it has not made any difference.

The only way of switching it off is by means of the wall-plug.

Any ideas? This player has seen very few hours of use, probably played no more than 15 DVDs.

    Hello,

Please reset your unit to its factory settings and check if it resolves the issue.

Thanks for the reply, Rafal. I had already tried this but it did not make any difference. The system is almost as if there is a sticking push-button somewhere, but the buttons on the unit all look fine to me and it is not from the remote controller.

A bit more information: Depressing the power button to switch the unit "Off", the unit goes to standby, then switches off before switching on again and displaying "Home" in the fluorescent display. After this, it will no longer switch off until I unplug it from the AC mains.

    Hello,

I'm afraid it may be a technical issue so I suggest you have your unit serviced by a qualified technician.

    Kind regards,
