Sound Dock DS1200/05 - no longer working properly

I bought my daughter the DS1200/05 to work with her iPod Touch about 18 months ago - which until about a week ago has worked without problem. However, we can no longer play music without getting an error message "This Accessory is Not Supported by Ipod touch".

I've made sure that the ipod has the latest download. I've even reset it to factory settings. I've unplugged the sound dock and rebooted the ipod. I've removed the cover, cleaned the connectors with an electric toothbrush to make sure that there is no dust but it still doesn't work.

Curiously, the ipod touch works on our other speaker system (bose) without problem and our other ipod (one of the very first ones - not an ipod touch) work on the Philips sound dock.

Can you "reset" the DS 1200/05? I cant think of anything else I can do.

    Can you help?

    Thanks,

    Claire

    Hi Claire,

Have you recently updated your iOS? If so please make sure to reboot your iPod after update.

Please let us know if the problem still persists.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,
The docking station stopped playing the iPod Touch music before I updated the iOS. When I followed the suggested solutions to resolve the problem, one of them was to update the iOS. I reset the Ipod Touch, reinstalled the factory settings and have subsequently rebooted the iPod Touch and also unplugged the sound dock and left it unplugged for a while. I continue to get the error message "This Accessory is Not Supported by Ipod touch".
    Thanks,
    Claire

Just to let you know that my husband took drastic action and took the sound dock apart. I've no doubt that you wouldn't recommend this but as it was not working we thought we had nothing to lose.

The good news is - we found what the problem was and it is now working again. Inside, there are two small black clips that keep the long metal pin (this is the pin which goes into the bottom of the iPod) in place. One of these black clips was not holding the pin in place - thus giving a poor connection.

The black clip is now back in place and we have music again. Perhaps a design issue - but thought I'd let you know.

Also, it may be worthy of noting that when you looked at the pin carefully, you could see (in it's broken state) that it was not 100% level - this was the clue on where to start looking.
