    HBBTV issues

    Hello

    I own a 55PFL6158K and I installed latest firmware v000.173.052.000
I'm receiving TV channels through DVB.

I've got issues with HBBTV in France :

    - on M6 HD (6th channel), I can't access HBBTV feature easily : the small picture indicating the HBBTV feature is sometimes not appearing, sometimes appearing after several minutes, where on other channels it appears after 2-5 seconds. Red button does not open the Demo menu neither, nothing happens. I've succeeded in opening HBBTV page only a few times, after a lot of efforts.

    - on ARTE HD (7th channel), HBBTV is not working at all : no indication on TV picture, red button or OK button not working (it's opening the demo menu). I've tried to disable/enable the HBBTV in settings, and also in OPTIONS for this particular channel. But on ARTE non-HD channel, it's working perfectly (small indication and access to HBBTV feature). I must say that my father owns a 2014 Philips TV with DVB channels and he can access HBBTV for ARTE HD.

Issues were the same with previous firmware.
    Never tested with older firmwares.

    I want to ask Philips:

Why not all firmware changes are tell to customers. I read from other customers that there are more changes than this 2 new changes. How to know that is good for me to install this (and every) new firmware ?

Please tell about all firmware changes that you made.

    Hi Peter,

Seems like Philips only announces the MAJOR (important) changes they have made in their firmware.

As long as i rememeber, minor changes are never announced by Philips. Everybody knows that Philips makes more changes in Fw.releases than they are telling. I suppose it's a big list of changes if they need to anounce each little detail. Some changes are country specific and some changes have more importance than anothers. For that reason they are not speaking about it.

Anyway, always use the latest Fw.release on your TV!! After
many problems at the beginning, especialy the problem with the restarts was very anoying. I see that each Fw.version is becomming better now!!

With my compliments to TPV(Philips): For the general bahaviour and reliablity improvements of the TV! Keep on the good job!! Now start working at the PNM adjustments! Hopefully this will improve in coming Firmware releases!!

    With kind regards, Jarno.

Ps; Philips changelog isn't that bad, for example: I own a Samsung BR-Player; The Fw. "changelog" only tells: Improvements general behaviour. What changes they made never is told.

... and even the major (important) changes are announces in "indian english" ... somethimes is not possible to understand what exactly is changes.

For example: "Improvement for reboots" - in my countri this is announsed: "improvement for stability" ...

And what means "improvement" ... and what is improve ... and is that means that there is still no solution ... because when problem is solvet they use "solution" ....

Please, Philips, explain better software changes that you made .... and explain more software changes that you made ...

From time to time Philips releases Fw. Upgrades. Sometimes they release a minor update and sometimes a major update. I suppose the latest fw. is just a minor update.

About the "improvements for reboots": I understood immediately what they improved! Although i agree that it is a strange way to communicate: But you can read it like you want!

By the way; untill now it seems a solution for me. The Tv does not reboot randomly anymore!

    Hi all,

Same thing for me for a 6158K in same conditions. In previous firmware, last year perhaps, it was working fine for Arte HD.
Concerning Arte it's still possible by te app, but it's less simple.

My 47pfl6008k has been just updated to FW 173.52. First impression: faster menu, even in SmartTV! It will be tested next days.

Deep Standby has not been working in the last three SW versions. This PFL6008K keeps leeching 30 Watts when "turned off" despite settings in power management. Only the rear frame button puts into 0.1 Watt standby. I kept pointing this out in several feed backs and support inquiries but never got any reply. And do: Pulling the plug to solve the issue is not an adequate work around!

When will Philips finally fix the rebooting problem with the rebooting?
We are told to unplug the tv!
    They can't be serious!
Software 173.52 was released but the notes don't mention anything about curing the rebooting.
    It's just one big joke.
Don't take anymore rubbish and ask for your money back

    Hi Reboot,

    [TV Model: 47PFL7008K]

Unplugging the power cord is useless!
I will upload a video containing the continuously repeated reboot problem I have experienced three times.
Technicians say that they installed the latest FW for solution. It is very ridiculous explanation. It had already had the latest FW, how could it occurred then??

    ---

    Philips,
Please explain what causes this error!
Tell us whether this error is software or hardware related!
Or, send 1,000-EUR to my bank account immediately!

    Regards,
    A. Takataş

    Hi Reboot,

Please state your TV model number and refrain from posting in software threads that are not related to your TV model.

The feedback you may be giving is otherwise not of much use to the developers.
