Like Jarnimo said, probably a motherboard swap.

I'm very doubtfull this will fix my problems. Last couple of days the reboots have gotten worse. The TV (55PFL8008) is rebooting 2, maybe 3 times a day. Mostly when switching imputs from TV to HDMI (with a CEC enabled device), or when starting the Netflix app.
    Hi Jeroen,

At the first view maybe it seems like the TV works fine after the mechanic replaced your mainboard at your home.

The important is that you test the TV good. The mechanics always seems to be in a hurry and maybe don't have patience to wait for this .... It can be nice to write in a paper what things to test with the mechanic, to see if all works fine! Be prepared!!!

If the mechanic is leaving and the problems appears after this, all starts over again; Calling customer care, explaining the problems, etc, etc...

Good luck when they come to look at it!!

    Regards, Jarno.

    Hey again Ina

I have the Philips Elevation 60 inch flatscreen.

I have a new problem with the tv.
Suddenly I cant manage to get the Game mode working. Well its like sometimes the option is there but then suddenly the options is all greyed out and I cant choose it? Then sometimes it suddenly works again and I can choose Game Mode. But then again suddenly its not possible again.

My setup at home is a Philips Elevation tv + Philips hts9100 soundbar + Playstation 3

I have both tried to put the HDMI cabvles through the Soundbar as a switch as well as the tv as a switch. Still same problem.

Normaly it works fine but suddenly it behaves likes this??

One more thing, does it matter sound quality wise whatever I use the HTS9100's HDMI to connect my blueray (PS3) or connect directly to the tv and use the TV as the HDMI swicth insted of the HTS9100 as the HDMI switch?

    Yesterday my mainboard got replaced.

Still have reboots and other problems (audio drop outs, failing nettv etc)

CE repair is now contacting philips about my problems....

    To be continued!

Actually I am hoping for a refund. Really sad, the picture quality is very good, and ambilight is really awesome.

I also contacted Finnish Philips customer support about the same issues everyone here is ranting about. Crashes, reboots, HDMI audio lag etc. I tried doing my best detailing the issues thoroughly. Got a quick reply after that.

"That's doesn't seem normal, your TV might need maintenance. Please provide you address information and we'll send a repairer"

Replied that I have strong suspicions that this isn't hardware related, but software - and gave links to this forum where many people confirm the same issues and problems. Also in quite the detail. After this they didn't answer for a week, until finally they answered yesterday.

"That's doesn't seem normal, your TV might need maintenance. Please provide you address information and we'll send a repairer"

(not in exact same words, so it isn't a bot answering either)

Gee, thanks for clearly putting your time to good use and that you got immersed in to the information I tried to provide you about your products, to your customer support.

    Hi,

Seems like they are planning another mainboard replacement for you. Apart from the LCD panel, the mainboard is the most important part of your TV.

Like I told before and JeroenB can confirm; Replacing the mainboard don't have any sence (in this case)! Rebooting issues and other software related issues will not disappear.

    OK..that's it!!!
Al right.. I have followed all the threats continuously. Sometimes agreeing and sometimes not. But if I am watching the finals (me being German) and the tv crashes every two secs..I am getting furious!!!! In other words, I am experiencing the worst software glitches ever...on a FINAL match!!!
I am running the latest software on a 55pfl8008 and I am speechless.!!
Please let me know what step I need to take because this is simply ridiculous for a € 2500 tv. Please advise

Yes, I can confirm this. After my mainboard was replaced there was no improvement and I directly contacted Philips, and next week they will do another "repair". I also told them that my guess was that it isn't hardware related. When my problems are not solved, they told me that they will look for another solution....

I'm very curious what another solution meens. Hopefully it means a refund....

    Again...to be continued!

Another "repair" means another mainboard replacement or maybe they'll make you believe that a powerboard replacement solves the problems.

My advice for everyone tired of ridiculous firmware glitches and neverending problems:
throw out Your Philips TV and go for the latest Sony leds.
If not, You will never ever be happy with Philips TV sets (not to mention about incompetent and ignorant technical suport treating us - customers - as free testers of their faulty products).

Yeah, that seems to be the only solution. Only problem is that I don't have the money to just throw away something I bought for over 2000€ a year ago. Store surely won't offer me refund anymore. Philips doesn't fix the problems nor offer a refund. Reselling the TV would be hard without losing lots of money and sending 55" TV via post-office is a pickle too. Also my I think it would be immoral to sell a TV this buggy to someone. Makes me wonder how Philips does it to thousands of people and still sleeps their nights well.

    Yep, completely agree.
This will be the moment to reply on all the posts.
Long time no hear, long time no upgrade.
If a new FW is upcoming please let us know, even if it takes a while.
No response is worse than a "please wait, we are working on a solid solution" reaction.
