    Hi,

    1.
This update is not yet made available over network and would therefore need to be manually installed via USB.

    2.
We are aware of issues with the software upload to our servers and the .zip files being empty on download. We hope to have this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you all for your patience!

    Best regards,
    Ina

    Hi,

The EPG (native from DVB-C) performance is still FAR below par.
I have been waiting for an updates that fixes the EPG and have already pointed out that it might be caused bij de software prioritizing screen buildup over user input, but this firmware still behaves the same.

There have been improvements and a have not noticed any more 10+ second freezes for, but it's still very frustrating to use the EPG. If there are some scrolling items on the screen (channel names/show names), than it takes several seconds to move the 'cursor' from one channel/show in the EPG to the next.

By now i am even considering to ditch this brand new tv and buying a sony. Or reinstalling my old Humax STB. Hopefully Philips agrees these would not be preferable solutions. Please put fixing the EPG high on your todo list.

    Firmware v3.9.0.1 on 22PFL4208K/12 with DVB-S

    Hello,

see no difference at all between v3.7.0.1 and v3.9.0.1. Both have an equal and very slow RC reaction on channel switching. All other known failures arround time-shift, USB-recording and HbbTV are exactly the same as before.

With this firmware version, the TV set 22PFL4208K still remains within a status "useless".

    Best regards,

    Willi

@dk8pn: "Useless" is a harsh but probably pretty accurate assessment ;-)

I wouldn't be surprised if the smaller tv's are totally underpowered (slower cpu/less ram) but still use the same software as the larger tv's. Mine is a 24" (24pfl4208). Are there any larger tv's out there that are equally frustrating to use?
Channel switching (pref/next channel) is slower than my Humax, but acceptable for me (digital tv always needs a few second). Navigating the native DVB-C EPG makes me want to trow the remote at the tv (may be it won't ignore full-contact input ;-)).

@Philps/Ina: Could you please let us know if Philips's acknowledges this issue and if we van expect a fix in the (near) future?

    Hi
I am having a problem updating my TV software. I have downloaded the update, unzipped to a USB, put it in the TV and followed the instructions, but then after rebooting the TV version still remains 002.025.000.001. My TV is a 32PFL4258H/12.

    Thanks

    Hi,

install it again. When the update is finished (the tv rebooted), shut down the TV and pull power cord for 2-3 minutes.

I have the impression that the EPG performance actually was better with FW 3.5.0.1, but now it appears to be back to what it was with 3.2.0.1.

If your engineers are able to sort this out (or even if not), they might also consider revising the response of the remote key FORMAT when playing from a media server. At present it brings up the FORMAT menu for the TV, thus, when this key is pressed (either by accident or intentionally by someone who is not familiar with the apparatus), the media play is aborted and the source is changed to TV.

The media play is aborted also when you press LIST. While this may be intentional, it is user-unfriendly, since there is no way to resume. (The current behaviour of LIST in this context seems just to duplicate that of BACK.)

I don't know the mileage of others, but for me the less there are keys on the remote that abort irrevocably and without asking confirmation whatever is going on in the TV set, the better. So if your engineers have difficulties to implement useful features, it is perfectly all right to leave such keys without any action.

(To be sure, everyone would appreciate a resume feature and even the possibility to jump to a specific time code, but we can understand that probably obtaining these is more than can be reasonably expected.)

    Hello Ina,

this is now a really bíg difference between v3.10.0.1 and v3.9.0.1. Most of the known errors which made your customers angry before seem to be resolved. Very fast RC reaction, extremely fast HbbTV, SmartTV etc., USB recording okay.

There is still one "old" failure. To use "pause-TV", the red record button needs to pressed once first, record menue needs to be left again using "exit" and then the "pause" button works out. After "stop" has been pressed once, this sequence needs to be reapeated again to enable "pause-TV" another time.

With this firmware version, the TV set 22PFL4208K moved from status "useless" to status "great" within this price class. This also proves that all known failures did not depend on too small processors or other hardware issues. It has been a pure software thing.

    Best regards,

    Willi
