    3D-glasses won't charge

Hi, I'm new to the forum and was just wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having with my 3d-glasses.

The Glasses' model is PTA518. I have three pairs, none of which seem to function any more. I figured their batteries could be out, and tried to charge them: the red LED flashes once but doesn't stay lit and the green light doesn't come on to indicate a full charge (even after "charging" overnight).

I hadn't used the glasses for a few months - is it possible for their batteries to run out on their own in this time so far as to not be chargeable any more? If so, is there a way to replace the batteries or somehow jumpstart them so they can be charged again?

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies!

Have they ever worked? They have Lithium batteries, which have very low self discharge, so a few months will discharge them slightly, but not damage them.

I have two pairs that I purchased when I bought my TV about a year ago, which both work fine. I then decided to get a third pair this spring. The dealer sold me a new pair, which showed the exact same behaviour as yours do. They refused to charge. Took them back for a replacement which also showed the same defect. I then gave up as all the samples the dealer had had the same problem and got a refund.

It appears Philips have produced a bad batch and that QC have failed to stop them from going out to customers. I suggest you take yours back under warranty.

I first got them about a year ago, and initially all three pairs worked. I remember charging them all up at that time and at least testing each pair. The last time I used them though, might have been in January, so at least one pair worked at that time without any issues.

Also I thought I'd just double check: when they're charging up, the red LED light is supposed to be on constantly, right?

Yes, and it will go out once fully charged.

It is possible for the PTA518 to stop charging if you dont use them for a longer period. The only way to deal with this is to exchange them with your dealer under warranty. A good replacement is the PTA509. These work with every activ 3D tv and are very light in use.

Hope you find a solution for this.

Ok thanks to both of you for replying. I'll try and exchange them with my dealer.
