    IP-EPG with Telenet channels

I own a 55PFL8007K with the latest software version and a CI+ of the belgian cable distributor Telenet.
When I set-up the EPG source on "EPG from channel", I see a 2 day EPG from all available channels with very limited information (eg: sort of movie, actors, short movie description etc. isn't available in this setting).
The problem here is Telenet themself, because they don't provide longer and more extensively channel information for people who use their CI+ modules.

Lucky me, Philips let us choose for "EPG from the internet". When this option has been choosen, I can use 1 week long EPG with lots of informations about the concerning movie, serie,... . It has one disadvantage: only the "common" channels are provided in this list (eg: één, vtm, vier, National Geographic,...), but the specific Telenet channels (such as njam!, Prime, Studio100tv,...) aren't. It's not possible to add them.

We mostly use the common channels, therefore I've setted-up the EPG as "EPG from the internet".

Last September I opened the EPG for the first time that day and the normal internet EPG appears. After 1/2h of watching TV, I opened again the EPG, and I see a complete other layout as usual (I didn't make any chance of one setting). It was a kind of mix of the EPG from channel and the EPG from internet.
A big advantage: I might use an EPG with information of 1 week and with complete informations about all the programmes. Even on the special Telenet channels. Great!

The next day, the same great EPG, but again the next day again the limited Philips internet EPG. I never changed settings.

Untill I think January the system changed randomly.

Of course I prefer the "mixed" EPG. Logic, because I've 1 week information of all broadcasted channels, with detailed movie information.

Telenet has no idea about it, neither my TV dealer.

Hopefully this forum can give me a solution.

    Thanks!
    Gert

    Hi Gert,

so whats the Situation now. Do you have the what you call "old" epg or the "new" one, the "mixed" one?

can you maybe send us some photos so we are clear on what you see.

    Hey Thomas,

Since January, I've never seen the "mixed" EPG and I've never taken pictures of it, so I can't upload them. It's sad, I know, but I really don't know how to get it again.

But I've made pictures about my problem and what I can choose today...

This is a picture of the "channel EPG". The channel 2BE is highlighted, more specific the movie "13". When I press the "i" button to get more information about the movie, I get the next screen:

Now I know it's a thriller, but I don't get more information. That's the fault of Telenet. In the past their customer service told me.

So, when I switch over to "internet EPG" I can see the next picture, when I select the "guide" button:

Again the movie "13" highlighted on the channel 2BE. When I ask for more information about that movie, I can see the next screen:

This is a fantastic explanation about the film. I know the information is taken from the database of Gracenote.

In the previous picture, you can see the last 2 lines. These channels "acht" and "notélé" are what I've called more specific channels. You can choose the option "wijs kanaal toe" (add channel), but for those channels it's not possible. It means the "Internet EPG" is unable to give information on those channels.

The "mixed EPG" I've seen a few times had the colours and font like you can see in the last 2 pictures, but it had the layout of the first 2 pictures.
Like I've said in the first post in this topic, the "mixed EPG" 'knows' all the broadcasted DVB-C channels, and it provided the information like you can see in the last picture.

I hope I've made myself a little bit clear?

    thanks again.

It's very nice when Philips starts a supportforum to help consumers out of their problems. Specially the problems which "no one" like the dealer or cableprovider can solve.

When you are the topic starter of such topic, it's very nice to see some progress...

about mine: are you searching for an answer, isn't it possible to get the mixed epg back, or what can I expect?

please give me some kind of progress.

    Hi,

i have checked some things in behind.
Also asked some guys in Blgium with Telenet connection.

It is true that IP-EPG does not have all Channels available, on the other Hand, the EPG Data is controled by the Provider only. So telenet does provide you "thriller".

I can forward the Informations about the missing channels in IP-EPG but besides that there is nothing i can do for you.

For the "mixed" EPG, we dont know what you mean by that and there was no change in EPG from our Side. If that happens again, make a Photo.

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for forwarding the missing channels. When the missing channels could be adopted in the Philips IP-EPG, that would be great.

When in September the layout changed I thought that would be the new style of Philips' EPG, otherwise I had certainly taken a photo.
I really hope it would happen again. In that case I take immediatly a photo and post it in this topic.

    thanks for the support.
    Gert
