    Exclamation 49pus7809 brightness issue

I recently purchased the 49pus7809 tv and are experiencing a strange effect when using it.
Wheb the image showing is a darker image the tv "overdoes" it so everything becomes alot darker.
Example: A sports show changes camera but keep score overlay, and the new camera angle have more dark areas in it the whole picture including overlays become alot darker, almost to dark to read comfortably.
Same issue with games from a Playstation.

I have tried to find if there is some setting for "dynamic brightness" or something but have not been successful.
    Please assist

    /Best regards
    hans

I also noticed that my new 49PUS7809 also goes so dark that it is hard to see the picture on and off.

    Hello

I did try to update to latest firmware yesterday and this issue remains.
I also tried turning off lignt sensor incase that affected anything, result is still the same....when image on screen is fairly dark everything drops in brightness including areas that should maintain smae brightness as in a brght scen.

    Hi!

Have you tried to adjust the Perfect Contrast settings?

HOME > [Setup] > [TV settings] > [Picture] > [Advanced] > [Contrast] > [Perfect contrast]

Try changing between Maximum, Medium, Minimum or Off to see if this will give you a picture effect that is more preferable.

    Best regards,

Ina: I have now tried your suggestion but it did not help.
One piece of additional information; if I pause a program on a quite dark image in which I noticed a large brightness drop compared to other scenes in the program and open up the tvs settings menues (which add brightness themselves to the image on the tv) the program image brightens up a bit over the full screen due to the added brightness in the settings icons. So I guess it is something with the brightness/contrast "smartness" of the TV that is not working properly.

    Hi!

Please try to factory reset the TV (not reinstall) and disable the Contrast mode and let me know if this has any effect at all.

HOME > [Setup] > [TV settings] > [General setting] > [Factory setting]

    HOME > [Setup] > [TV settings] > [Picture] > [Advanced] > [Contrast] > [Contrast modes] > Off
    Thanks!

We have the same problem with the 2013 models, reported multiple times in the forums and do not solve the problem. The only solution is to turn off what they have said. Add functionality to a tv to have to turn them off.

The 'dynamic lighting' cannot be turned off in these newer models through the menu. Dynamic contrast does not fix this Philips.

Please add an option to turn off the dynamic lighting function, it makes darker scenes impossible to watch.

I also have the same problem...
Picture become so dark in some dark scenes you can't see almost nothing. Playing with contrast settings helped a bit but things which should be making this TV "great" needs to be off or some maximum, so that there is more brightness to picture in darker scenes but then the blacks aren't those true blacks anymore.
