    Lip sync problem

    Hi.
    I have Philips 55PFL8008S with QF2EU-0.173.52.0

The problem is lip sync. I have turned the receiver (Onkyo tx-nr709) off and enabled passthrough so that I can use TV audio. The lip moves before the audio comes.

When the receiver is on the audio from my external speakers is perfect synced.

If the receiver is turned on and I enable "output the audio to tv speakers" I have the same lip sync problem again.

I have a HD decoder from my Cable provider.

Onkyo tells me the problem is the TV, not the decoder.

    Any ideas?

Unhappy Also experiencing lip synch issues with TV sound

Can't help you, just wanted to say that I am experiencing lip synch issues with my new 46PFL8008S as well.

I have it connected to a set top box from Altibox (https://www.altibox.no/) HDMI 50Hz 1080i and lip synch seems to drift in and out. It is very noticeable. I don't have a receiver, just HDMI from the set top box to the TV, audio plays through the TV. Netflix on AppleTV or Chromecast seems a bit better but also seem to have slight lip synch issues.

I otherwise love the TV but this issue is unbearable, it will have to go back unless this can be fixed. I have downloaded the latest firmware but it did not make a difference. My previous Samsung TV did not have this issue using the same equipment.

My HD decoder is a new one from Get (www.get.no), 1080i and Dolby enabled. (The problem is the same with 720p and dolby disabled). It is really annoying!

Setting output to Stereo on the TV and to "2 channel" on the set top box (as suggested in the other thread) seems to have fixed the lip synch issues for me when watching TV.

Will need to experiment more when using Chromecast and AppleTV to see if anything can be done there.

A permanent firmware fix would of course be better.

Yes, I basically agree, we should expect this to just work. And I don't think setting the TV to stereo did anything because I had already tried that. But setting the decoder to "2 channel" instead of "PCM AC3" worked for me for at least watching TV.

I goggled lip synch issues and found many cases involving Philips but also other major makes. Looks to me like the TV's are rushed to market without mature firmware. I have for after just a week experienced several "crashes" while navigating the menu system, requiring turning the TV on/off or even disconnecting the power on one occasion. These usually happen if I try to "rush" the navigation.

Hopefully someone from Philips will reply to the annoying lip synch bug soon.

Has anyone been able to fix this? it's been months now, and for me no changes (it even feels like it's getting worse - getting closer to the 1s delay, although changeing cable channels seems to reset the delay back to something 'better')

since it hasn't been fixed by any of the latest firmwares, i was wondering if anyone had found a workaround to this.

    my setting:
    55PFL8008k/12 with latest firmware (173.052)
    cable box on HDMI
    XBOX 360 on HDMI

i use both the cable box or the cable company app on the xbox for VOD. both have the same crappy lip sync issue. Apps on the TV (such as netflix for instance) are fine though.

on another older TV (LG) there is no lipsync issue with any of these equipments.

I know that Philips (Ina) hasn't really been vocal about this issue despite the many complaints, including the official firmware release feedback topics... sounds like Dell a few years ago, i just hope they react faster and learnt from other people experience. A 2,000 euros tv with lipsync issues that didn't exist a few releases ago is not really a future-proof prospect...
