Using any ir remote turns 46pfl8008s/12 off

    Hello,

    I have a 46pfl8008s/12s connected through easylink to a HTL 9100/12 soundbar.

When using the tv remote, everything works fine, but when I press any button on any other remote, the TV shuts down (and turns off the soundbar as well).

That means, that I cannot use the soundbar remote to adjust the treble/bass or choose another input. I also have a HTPC in my livingroom and use of that remote also shuts off the tv. It doesn't matter which button I press; any button will turn the tv off.

I have tried reinstalling the tv and change the batteries in all remotes, but the problem persist.

    Has anybody got an idea?

    Cheers from Denmark

    Hello Alex,

Try to leave the set plugged out the power for one night. This might solve this issue.

    Kind regards,
    Evil

    Hi,

make sure, you have installed the latest firmware 173.52. After the update was successful, also pull power cord for 2-3 minutes.

Easylink does not seem to be the problem; I'll contact service and post their reply.

Thanks again, EvilC, for your suggestion and your time.

    Hello,

Just a short update as promised.

I have been in contact with Phillips Support in Denmark and they are taking the issue quite seriously. They have had a couple of similar issues repported in from other consumers, but has yet to come up with a solution.

The issue has been handed over to "development" for further investigation.

Right now they er sending me a new remote; they don't know, if it will solve the problem, but it's worth a try.

    Hi.

I have the same issue with the TV turning on/off every time I push a button on a remote not belonging to the TV. It first appeared about 4 months ago, and I solved the issue by loading the latest software to the TV via USB. That solved the problem, but it has now reappeared, so I''m very interested in what else might work.

    Hi all,

I got a new remote at the beginning of July. There has been no issues since.

@Thomas: have you tried contacting Philips? Perhaps your problem is with the remote as well?

    /Alex

I talked to them yesterday, and they suggested I turned off the TV overnight to see if that solves the problem. So far it has...

I have a computer with an IR receiver and I have hooked up the computer to my Philips 40PFL7505D. Any remote I use to control the PC ends up turning off/ turning on the TV. It is generally when I use the PC remote to scroll through a channel list.

I have the latest firmware as of 9/4/2014 on the TV. I have tried 3 different universal remote. I just spent a bit of cash on a Logitech Harmony 650 remote hoping that would help; the TV has only cycled once in the past couple hours which is an improvement. I will play with the settings on this remote and see if I can't prevent it from cycling the TV.
