Newer blu ray player vs older TV

Hello, I would like some advice - thanks in advance. My TV has typical older TV with regular yellow/red/white cable ports in front (DirectTv is hooked into that) and red/white ports in back of TV. But only yellow on player. When hooked up, I see the movie but hear whatever's on TV. Any help is appreciated - I've tried reconnecting the plugs everywhich way and nothing helps. Thanks.

Thank you, however I was told my television set is too outdated to allow any blu ray player to be hooked up to it. Now...on to finding a new flat screen TV I've always wanted.
