    Hello,

We bought a new TV yesterday (I think its called 47PFS7509). The salesman said Viaplay works and in the store-demo Viaplay was clearly installed. When we installed the TV last night we couldn't find the app at all.

What might be wrong? We don't have time to return the TV today and like it otherwise, but the basics have to work.

    Best regards, Gustav E

    Viaplay's gone! Again!

After updating on August 1 I got access to Viaplay again after the shutdown of a couple of weeks. Viaplay's been working fine since then. Never had any problems before the July shutdown either. Today August 11 there's a new on-screen message posting that Viaplay is no longer available on my TV (Philips MODEL NO: 42PFL6007T/12) and there's no access to the videos. No further explanation is given. Back to square one - no Viaplay!

What in the world is going on with the Philips app? What's the reason for this? Clearly there's nothing wrong per se with the app. Is this Philips' doing? Or what?

No change today. The Viaplay interface is open, the same posting "no longer available" is still there, no access to the videos and no explanation for the action whatsoever. The way of things gets you to think of unpaid bills and such. Is this in reality an administrative matter rather than a technical one? Discussions about fees Philips-Viaplay and the consumer duly paying both parties stuck in the middle?

    The situation is frustrating.

No change today either. The Viaplay interface is open, the same posting "no longer available" is up, still no explanation for the action whatsoever and Philips TV owners are not allowed to watch videos.

Moderator Philips - Thomas promised to give information on the matter a week ago but then went missing.

Surely there must be full information at hand by now. What is going on?

    Hi @ all,

    Unfortunately, and contrary to
earlier announcements, the Viaplay service is not yet up and running. We are
facing unexpected technical challenges that our engineers are currently looking
to resolve. At this point in time we cannot give any exact indication as to
when the service will be available again. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause, and will do our utmost to get the Viaplay service up and
running again as soon as possible.

    Regards
    Thomas

This has a ring of Viaplay forever gone about it.

What's the technical problem about, really? Nothing that affects the viewer experience anyway, since Viaplay's been working fine on my TV both before and after the July shutdown. Strange! This calls for further explanation from Philips.

Is this a good time to buy a Samsung if you want to watch Viaplay this autumn? And certainly give up on Philips forever?

Updates on the situation every other day would be much appreciated and in fact necessary. Will you do that, Thomas?

This is what Philips told the consumer in June 2012:

"Philips TV strives to offer its customers unlimited entertainment at the users command. Therefore we are particularly proud of the partnership with Viaplay as their service enables this", says Joakim ÷rnstig, Nordic Marketing Director Philips TV.

The announcement seems not to have been withdrawn. Thus it is still valid.

    Hi,

the only thing i can say to that is, that we are not responsible for the content on the Viaplay Website.
