Wifi media connect and Windows 8 / 8.1

Wifi media connect worked great with my previous laptop (Windows 7).

I bought a new laptop with windows 8, and I can't manage to make it work:

I tryed to install it in normal mode, as well as compatibility mode with windows 7 (as well as other compatibility modes available) as this may have worked for other users according to a tread I found on tis forum (now the tread is closed).

Actually when I install Wifi media connect in windows 7 compatibilty mode, it works great.... until I shut down and restart my laptop....
Indeed, when I restart the laptop, Wifi media connect does not work (it says there is an encoding problem). Even worst, I have strictly NO sound from ANY other app (youtube, X box player....), as if there was kind of a "conflict".

I tried MANY times to uninstall / reinstall, with our without the compatibility mode, I always have the same problem as soon as I restart the laptop..

Do you have any clue on how to solve this problem?? Is Philips considering launching a version of Wifi media connect comaptible with windows 8 / 8.1 ??

I am really worried and hope we'll fix the problem, as this is a great app when it works.

    NB : My TV is a 40PFL7605H/12.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Philippe

    Hi philippe G.

The Wifi Media Connect software in itself is no longer being produced or updated.

Therefore the software will not be updated to be compatible with Windows 8, but will only remain compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7. We therefore can't not support Wifi Media Connect installed on unsupported operating systems.

The work around would be use use the software in compatibility mode as you have been, but we can't guarantee that this will work for all the features.

    Best regards,
    Ina

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Can you use ps3 media server to simply send anything that's on the screen of your laptop (desktop, web browers...etc) to your TV?

This is what i miss from wifi media connect.

I have no problems to stream files (music and movies) though upnp/dlna via Windows media player. But what i need is to stream the screen of the laptop.

Thanks in advance for your reply,

    Philippe

    Hello Philippe,

This is not possible using streaming software. It is possible to use your tv screen wireless as an monitor using miracast, but this is not supported by your tv set. In my opinion you have two solutions....
Connect your PC with a cable, or try using chromecast.(Not really sure if this will work on your TV set)
