Coaxial Digital Audio to Philips TV with DVI Audio Input

    Hi

I'd like to connect an HD Freeview Box, with Coaxial Digital Audio output, to my Philips TV. The TV has a socket labelled DVI Audio input. I'm having difficulty finding a cable for this.
I should say that I already have an HDMI to DVI-I cable between the box and the TV, but this gives video only.
    Any advice?

    Hi,

as you correctly descibed is, that the HDMI to DVI only gives Video. In parallel to this video connection you can connect an analog audio cable (which should be the DVI-Audio input on your TV) to your TV.

Thanks for prompt reply. So the DVI audio socket on the Philips TV is for analogue sound? I thought it would be for digital.

    Hi GordonT,

With this TV model and this setup the only option for audio in is indeed via the DVI Audio In port.

This port is a 3.5mm jack stereo port. If your Freeview box only has Coaxial out this will likely not be easily made compatible. At least I do not know if a reliable coaxial-to-jack converter solution.

    Best regards,
    Ina
