    Arrow Experience thread - FW 150.97 - for 6/7/8/9000 Series - 2012

    Hi,

The new software will be live soon.
Due to our global IT structure, there might be a delay in the uploading to our support websites.

For technical feedback (pos. and neg. points) please post here:
    http://philips.to/1pgIDY3

This thread is more for details and discussions.

This FW is applicable to EU models only, except for Germany. This is due to local issues with this software version. Please contact local German support for more details and instructions.

IMPORTANT: After upgrading your TV, it is necessary to perform a "cold start". This means that, after the TV is running again (after the update), shut down the TV, wait 1 minute (till all components are shut down), and unplug the TV from the mains (pull power cord) for 2 minutes before starting again.

    Tried this FW.
After second reboot (did 2 of them just to be sure) I was watching a HD channel (CI+) and without pressing anything on the remote the tv restarted itself. After this I pressed menu button and the icon for "setup" was out of line, above the other icons. So, from the first glimpse, this firmware is also a joke. How could this kind of unfinished firmware get out to the general public in 2014 still amazes me...
Logos for TV channels are all messed up (just like .95), and the fix for it is the rename button, just like .95. So no changes here.
Menu is still painfully slow, no difference from .87 (which I used before this).
The 3D for movies is better than previous .95, but the video corrections are still garbage and some pixels are shifted to the wrong side occasionally, HDNM is worse than .87, so in the end you get a blurry picture.
The discovered change list: tried to repair the 3D for movies.
I will revert back to .87. I bought this TV for movies (3D and 2D) and for picture quality.
I would appreciate if someone could tell me which IP to block so this tv can`t check for fw updates in the future and constantly inform me that there`s an update ready. I don't want a bad fw and I want this nagging to stop.

    Hi,
I pulled power cord 2 times, as I mentioned before, just to be sure that everything is initializing ok.
    So 2 cold starts.
About the IP to block...any info?
    Thanks.

The common usage of 'TBC' means 'to be confirmed'.
But who releases software with a change-log of 'tbc'? I sometimes wonder if TPVision really know how to write software.
If this level of 'quality' is repeated for the next 2013 series firmware then I'm getting worried...

Try blocking host 'www.ecdinterface.philips.com'. Not sure if this always resolves to the same IP address or not.
This will almost certainly stop the 'Smart TV' features from working, but as they're really too slow to be useful maybe this is no bad thing...

    Product model: 42PFL6907T

    Ok, I can confirm that

    a) 5-pixel bug isn't back this time, so it should be safe to upgrade in that regard

    As for negative points:

    b) minor improvement: The Finnish YLE channels now have Finnish titles in the program guide. I also noticed that now the product homepage defaults to country-specific firmware, were these available previously...? Or is there even any difference between different country firmwares?
    - edit: Ok, scratch that. The YLE channels' titles in the program guide are actually still in Swedish. Seems like the program titles in that particular timeframe I checked it were all hardcoded in Finnish, or something like that. Should have checked again few hours later... (now moved over to negatives' list)
    - re-edit, additional information: the bug lies in the language change. Check latter post (http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...ll=1#post75206) for more details.

    c) no improvements to color banding, it still exists in Game and Computer modes !!

    d) HDNM is still jerky with regular (50Hz, 60Hz, etc.) computer signal, and has artifacts
    - HDNM with TV's own USB playback is less jerky (always was), but the USB playback has limited codec support
    - HDNM in regular broadcasts falls somewhere in the middle

    e) user interface is still slow
    - not that I expected any improvements in this regard

    f) 3D still has HUGE input lag (around 100ms+), making 3D gaming nigh impossible
    - the Game/Computer mode does not affect the input lag in any way
    - @jammmie100: I can still normally change between Off/Game/Computer modes, it just doesn't make any difference
    - @jammmie100: The double image bug sounds like a Active 3D problem, so can't help you there (my set uses Passive 3D)

    g) Dual Play (which is taking advantage of the 3D capability) also exhibits huge input lag. And same as above: the Game/Computer mode doesn't affect this. edit: it also seems that the Dual Play in itself is now broken, as pointed out by tataPszemka.
    - What makes the situation bizarre is that this feature is MEANT SOLELY FOR GAMING! Have the developers/programmers even tried using this in real-world scenarios?
    - @tataPszemka: Try pressing the OPTIONS button in the remote, then press UP to get to the top pane selection, select "Picture and sound", and there should be an option for "Two-player gaming". This is possibly the only way to reach this menu, not sure.

    h) Yellow shortcut button remains unused
    - has been previously requested to be used for changing into the Game/Computer mode

All in all, pretty much a non-update for me. (No, the program guide title language change on certain channels really doesn't count as a huge improvement. This was a niche issue, and the solution was probably nothing more than changing "DEFAULT_LNG=se" to "DEFAULT_LNG=fi". While indeed a welcome change, don't expect any further tributes for something so minor/niche.)
    - edit: As said before, even that issue wasn't fixed, after all. The titles are still in Swedish. In other words, there was NO change what-so-ever for me in this update...
    - re-edit: with the broken Dual Play, it seems this update was mostly detrimental

Also, I would like to remind that people should post their observations in the Technical feedback (http://philips.to/1pgIDY3), also. Just copy-paste the basic form from another post, and replace/combine the negative and positive points with your own observations. Even if your own observations have already been noted by other posters, you should add or keep them in your form, too. This is so that the developers know that there's not just one person affected by it. Going to add my own observations in a short while, so you guys can copy that form, and keep the relevant points in your own form.
    - remember to change the product model number to your own form
    - edit: I already made the post in the Technical feedback, but it seems to be stuck in clearance check for the moment

    Also:
Any news with regards to what issues the programmers are working on?

    edit:
PS. Now I'm really intrigued to hear what the change-log will be like...

    Product : Philips 7007K "40 - 150.97

Bugs that were not fixed since 13x or came since 150.90-97

    Negative :

    a) 3D mode still disable Game/Mode automatically. reverting to 2D still keeps Game mode off even if it's selected as Game On. Need to cycle to Computer or Off then u get fast blink to Computer and longer blink to Off, there is no difference with Computer or Game both have the same issue with 3D. (Was not fixed since 150.90-97)

    b) 3D still has HUGE input lag (around 100ms+), making 3D gaming impossible
    - the Game/Computer mode does not affect the input lag in any way

    c) no improvements to color banding, it still exists in Game and Computer modes !! (@aatu) same issue. ( Was not fixed since 13x-150.97)

    c) HDNM is still jerky with 60Hz or 59Hz computer signal HDMI, has artifacts and random stuttering. (13x-150.97

    d) UI is still slow (13x-150.97)

    e) Yellow shortcut button remains unused (13x-150.97)
    - has been previously requested to be used for changing into the Game/Computer mode

I know where is it, but after select side by side or top/bottom I receive picture for one player. You know, if I have split screen in game (top and bottom) and I take dual play mode I see only "top" on full screen without glasses. Top picture is expanded on full screen. Sorry for my English
