Nice to see that they don't forget us

    Done with 55PFL6008K.
It will take some time to see the differences but the navigation into the menus is a little better than before. I also had bugs with the volume (big delays) and it seems to work smoother now.

    For Christ's sake.

We've had to wait all this time and the two main problems with the TV haven't been fixed i.e. lip sync and aggressive backlight dimming.

    I give up.

Ina - can you confirm that fixes for these are being worked on?

Angry what has changed between 52 and 53?

Here is my experience upgrading this evening...

    1) I make a list of channels that don't have any icon on DVB-T/T2 UK Freeview (which as the TV is 'FreeView HD' certified it should have!). The channel numbers are :
    1,11,16,17,18,19,20,26,30,31,32,33,35,36,37,38,39, 40,44,47,48,49,55,58,59,61,63,64,65,68,72,73,74,83 ,84,85,102,105,106,107,108,109,110,111,170,171,172 ,173,174,175,176,177,178,179,180,181,182,199,201,2 02,203,204,207,208,225,227,229,231,234,238,239,241 and 242.
This means >50% of channels don't have a logo.
    2) Whilst browsing through the channels ( I started at channel 1 and kept presings CH+), the TV locked up at channel 7 and went into stand-by mode. I think this might be due to channel 7 being 'offline' until 19:00.
    3) I downloaded the new FW to my SD card.
    4) I plugged my SD card into my USB card reader which is plugged into the TV. The card appeared as 'empty'. I put the tv into stand-by and then switched it back on. This time the SD card contents were visible (even though I hadn't touched the card or card-reader).
    5) I followed the upgrade process with power-cycle.
    6) On opening up the list of channels ALL MY DVB-T ICONS HAD DISAPPEARED!!!!
    7) In desperation I did a full re-install (factory reset as I call it) and I've got some of my icons back. THere are still some missing and they are :
    1,11,16,17,18,19,20,26,30,31,32,33,35,36,37,38,39, 40,44,47,48,49,55,58,59,61,63,64,65,68,72,73,74,83 ,84,85,102,105,106,107,108,109,110,111,170,171,172 ,173,174,175,176,177,178,179,180,181,182,199,201,2 02,203,204,207,208,225,227,229,231,234,238,239,241 and 242.
    8) So as you can see the new channel logo database has made ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE for me.

All the other problems still exist, so I have downgraded to 173.42 as this is the earliest FW I still have. It is noticeably better already. If anybody has a link to the last 171 FW then please PM me...

PHILIPS / TPVISION - If this is the best you can do in 2 months then I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It is getting to the point where I am willing to use UK Consumer law to get TPVision/Philips to take the TV back and give me a full refund as this TV is simply not fit for purpose.

@toegel, but the factory reset is not superfluous, once done reinstall the tv?
    THE PNM WAS FINALLY SOLVED?
in other words ... it's well worth the upgrade to .42, because then I have to replace 4000 satellite channels and favorite channels of DTT?

true and in fact use such a useful feature, which only allows you to upload your favorite list only for the satellite channels, I do not understand why the digital terrestrial channels (DVB-T) not!
however you need to do before searching for channels is the satellite of the Earth, then loads the list from the USB stick, otherwise it will not put nothing already experienced ...

The problem with the display of 4:3 broadcasts (such as old film) on the HD channels are still unaddressed, AutoFill function, auto zoom, 16:9, there is still no good.
The channels broadcast in MPEG-2 is the AutoFill function, the image fills by 4:3 broadcasts, MPEG-4 is broken. WHY???. For older models (in my 40PFL8664) can do it!!!
It will not fix it, it's in all models in 2013, tested in store?!

Ok my post on technical thread disappeared strangely.

I just want to say that today i give up my hopes that Philips ever will be able to fix this horrible firmware-disaster.

I wish you owners who still have faith in Philips the best of luck.

Since i installed the new firmware (.73) I have a "new" problem that i never had before:

For Several times I was not able to turn on the TV from standby with the remote control. The TV was not responding to anything i did.

The solution was to take of the powercord. All seemed to work normal for 1 or 2 days untill it happened again.... Since the new fw this happened 3 times already!
