Angry Streaming from iTunes doesn't work for HD iTunes content

I'm getting error messages when trying to play downloaded content I've purchased from iTunes. I'm using an AppleTV 3rd-gen, and have a Phillips 42PFL3605/98.

When trying to play some HD content (not all) I get a message telling me this content can't be viewed on one or more displays (there's only one connected apart from my MacBook - and that's this stupid-ass HDTV) because of HDCP restrictions (that's high definition content protection, according to my newly acquired knowledge from web-searching).

So how do I get around this?

I've tried downloading updated firmware for the TV - but can't seem to do this because it only recognises PC-format USB drives (I use a Mac).

This highly frustrating - surely someone out there must have a fix for this?

Sure - i can watch the movie on my mac - but i'd much prefer to stream it to my TV screen via AppleTV (that is what I bought it for!)

    Please help.

    Hi glefre,

Is the message you are receiving: "The selected movie won't play on your display. This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."

In this case your TV does support HDCP and the issue is likely with the content.
Please ensure iTunes is fully up to date.
On which source are you attempting to play the media?

If you require assistance with updating your TV, please contact your local customer support team, as they will be able to assist you further:

    Best regards,
