Using Windows Media Player on Philips 24PFL4208H/12

    Hi all,

I would like to watch/listen/view to the media content I have collected on my PC through my Philips Smart TV. I am using Windows 7 and Windows Media Player. According to the manual, I should be able to connect these devices.

I have succesfully set up a connection with my PlayStation 3, so I am confident the network and Windows Media Player are all set up effectively.

I have succesfully connected my Philips TV with my home network (wired), I have updated to the last software and Smart TV is functioning fine.

However, as soon as I select 'Source/Network', the TV looks like it tries to connect to a network. However, within about 1 second, the connection seems to crash and the TV goes back to 'normal' TV programs.

I have tried to add an extender in Windows Media Player, the player then asks for an 8 digit code from the TV. The TV however, does the same as described above. The connection does not come together.

    Any help would be great!

    Marcel

    Hi Marcel.

Please ensure your TV is up to date with software version 3.10.0.1:

Have you enabled media sharing on your computer?

    Best regards,
    Ina

Thanks for your feedback! I had performed the software update through the internet connection of the TV, it followed the whole process of updating the software, reported back that new software was installed, but actually it did not update anything!

I had to run the procedure through USB (downloading on PC, copy to USB and use USB stick to update TV). After that, the media files of my PC were playable on the TV.
