Question No longer plays MP4 Videos!

I've upgraded to the latest software (1.29.00) for my Philips HTB3510/12 unit. After the update it will no longer play .mp4 videos (it says video format not supported), I can however play .avi videos. The system would play both .mp4 and .avi videos prior to the update!

I reset the system, it made no difference, I also re-installed the current software from a usb stick with the software from Philips support website (since I initially downloaded it direct to the box), none of this made any difference!

Are you aware that .mp4 videos are no longer playing after the update? Please fix.

I look forward to your reply.

    Unhappy

    Hello Rafal,

To re-cap, the latest software update installed perfectly but before the latest software update I could play .mp4 videos via DLNA (from my PC to the Philips HTB3510/12 system)... as I mentioned, since the update I no longer can. However, I can confirm that .mp4 videos do indeed play from a USB stick.

Are you aware that .mp4 videos can no longer be played via DLNA? Please fix this as it's a nuisance having to put videos on a USB stick.

Hi Rafal, if the fix is going to take a while, would it be possible to re-release firmware 1.28.01 so we can enjoy access to mp4 from our NAS?

Hi team, any update on when a fix will be released for this issue?

Also, not sure if it's related but traversing through folders on NAS device over DLNA doesn't seem to be stable either (was working well up to 1.28.01)

This was 4 months ago. Is there any chance of this being fixed sometime soon?
I'm at the point of simply getting a new non-Philips entertainment centre due to this. I have an extensive library of mp4 movies that are completely useless to me, and it'd honestly be more convenient for me to simply replace my HTB3510 than convert them all to avi's!

I'm extremely annoyed about all of this. The truly maddening thing is that there is NO WAY to downgrade. Philips remove all previous versions, and refuse to host them.

Dear Philips, you publicly acknowledge more than 4 months ago that there is a problem in this very thread, yet you do nothing to fix it, and also refuse to allow us access to a previous version of the firmware that actually works. Can you honestly expect us to ever be a loyal Philips customer and buy any of your products ever again if this is the level of customer service that you provide?

I'm absolutely disgusted with this treatment of your customers. 4 months, and not a whisper of action. Are we simply expected to discard this product now it no longer functions due to your software release?

I notice that Rafal is replying to other threads, but this one is now simply being ignored. Is he the only official Philips representative on the entire forums?
Great customer service Philips. I shall be posting elsewhere about my "great" experiences with Philips, and making sure as many people as possible know about this terrible customer service. I can honestly say that of ALL of the electrical brands that I have ever bought in my 45 years on this planet, this service is easily the worst ever. Totally crap!

    Hi Rafal, moderation team,

In addition to the mp4 playback issue, I am now experiencing freezes on blu-ray playback after about an hour into the disc (so playback is fine for the first hour or so, then freeze starts to happen). This happens across many (all?) the blu-rays I have (all store bought).

Is this because there is an issue with playback with the second layer (I think blurays are dual-layer)? Is this a firmware issue or does my player need fixing/replacing?
