    Question [Wish] Show A Clock in the BDP display during Standby

    Hi,

    Wish:

    I'd like to have a clock in the BDP display when the player is in standby mode. The time should be updated via internet time servers (if BDP supports internet).

    Some options for the general option menu:
    - Show Clock in Display => {On, Off}
    - Update Clock => {Manual, Internet}

    Since the BDP is linux based this should be easy to implement.

    What do you think about it?

    I am afraid this needs new hardware, it cannot be a software only solution. Is this a request for a player you now have?

    Not sure if it makes it easier with a linux system. I would assume, that the linux is shut down in the standby. But would be interesting to know if is still on.

    Hi,

    good points - but maybe a small chip in new players can handle that...

    Hi Toengel,

    I'm working in Philips on Blu-ray players. Thank you very much for your input. At the moment, we shut down the display in order to achieve a very low power consumption in the 'Standby' mode. But a clock display is a very interesing input. I will take your input for our new product discussion.
