BDP3100 AAC support ?
Hi,
Can we expect the support of AAC reading for the 3100 serie ? The 3200 got it and since it's only software decoding, a firmware upgrade could help it ^^

Yes, should work also in BDP2700/12 (friend's player, not my own, thank god), but it won't. At least according to Philips specs from
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...4091&faqview=1
Already updated firmware from 1.21 to 1.54, tried to play back at least three different containers with AAC-audio, MP4-container with audio "Audio: AAC 24000Hz mono 64kbps" from digital camera, self encoded (Xmedia Recode) MKV with audio "Audio: AAC 44100Hz stereo 1411kbps" and third MKV sample from internet, details not available but also with AAC-audio.
Every single one fails with "Audio mode not supported" or something like that. Video plays just fine with all samples that I've tried so far.
How to fix this? Any ideas?

Thanks! Will forward this info to friend ASAP.
Maybe premature, but how likely is this problem to actually be solved? I know for a fact that he's already considring of switching to differend brand because of this.

Dear customers,
Clarified with our software team: Since both models (BDP2700 & BDP3100) are DivX Ultra certificated and not DivX Plus HD certificated, the AAC cannot be decoded.
We will clarify this better in our online material to avoid similar mistakes.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.
Kind regards,Forum Mod

But why not providing some firmware to make AAC decoding possible? You know, 'service is our success'.

I think the answer was given already: Since both models (BDP2700 & BDP3100) are DivX Ultra certificated and not DivX Plus HD certificated, the AAC cannot be decoded....
This has to do with certifications, licenses etc and for this reason no new software will be made.....
