Extreme in-motion unsharpness / ghosting with Blu-ray 2D
Hi,
I just watched a Blu-ray ("Call me Crazy" a.k.a. "The TV Set", Barcode: 4051238000153). I noticed an extreme ghosting effect while watching this Blu-ray.
My set-up:
- BDP9600 (firmware 1.56)
- 58PFL9955H/12 (firmware 140.36)
- connected via HDMI (port 2)
Some screenshots:
I noticed that since TV firmware 140.34 the in-motion unsharpness was increased. It seems that some intermediate processed images are mixed. For example, if a vertical line moves from left to right, the line sometimes "disappear" (the background is unchanged).
@Philips
Can you please take a look a this! Don't hesitate to ask for more input!
Toengel@Alex
PS: Philips, if you think this is a TV related issue, please move this topic, but please escalate this to the TV development team!

Hi Toengel,
Do you have another Blu-ray device to test if this is a disc problem?
Regards,

Hi,
that was also my first intention - I take this BD to work and see if somebody has a BD device here... ;-) I let you know...

Hi Toengel,
Maybe try this. Disconnect your BDP from the TV. In the TV menu remove the BDP from the list of external devices. Turn of your TV and then switch it on again. Now connect the BDP back and add it again in the TV menu to your list of external devices. Really do not know if this will work but you never know.....
For me at the end it looks more like an issue related to the TV then to the BDP
Regards

Hi,
today I was in a profi hifi store (not Media Markt or such a store - I mean really a profi store ^^). We tested this BD and find out, that the BD mastering seems to be "broken" -> we could reproduce this issue on another device. I also escalate this to the production company of this BD. I hope I'll get an answer. I let you know what is the outcome...

Hi,
today I tested the BD on a Sony notebook with a BD drive. The effect was also present (I explicitly take a look at 59:10h - this is where the 3rd image was taken). So it seems to be a mastering problem with the disc. But I am already in contact with the producers of the BD. I'll keep you informed.

Hi,
today I received another BD from the producers. The BD is called "The TV Set" (Barcode: 4260157710535). "Call me Crazy" is a reissue of "The TV Set". However, the BD has the same problems.
