Loosing Wifi-Settings after power off
after power off (not standby) the player loose his Wifi settings. Is there any solution in progerss (firmware update or sth.)?
(BDP8000/12, Firmware 1.53)
Hi, is your BDP very far away from your router or is it close and you always have a good signal. I have this with one of my streamium products that is far away but not with my 8000 which is closer.
Might be interesting to check what happens if you are closer. Also do you use auto channel on your router or do you you use a fixed one...
how do you see, that the Device losses the settings?
Note, the Player needs time to boot, even while you can already see the menu, the Wifi connector is not completely online.
so if you turn on the Player and directly go to netTV or "browse PC" you will get a message that the Device is not ready and you have 3 options (abort, repeat, settings) indeed if you go to settings, you have to reenter all the Wifi settings, but you can also click on repeat, the message will appear like 5-6 times again (with changing messages but allways with the Option to repeat) then the connection is there.
it is written in the FAQ (support website) that the player will loose the wifi settings when switching the device HARD OFF (not standby).
I'm having this problem on simple power off (standby). Firmware 1.56. The BDP8000/12 loses all settings, not only Wifi but also NetTV region is reset to Austria (the first on the list). In my case, the device is in standby mode so still connected to the power grid. Apparently, putting the device on standby forces a full reset.
Although it's okay that a machine forgets the settings after a prolonged period of being disconnected, this should not occur in the case Ralf describes nor in my case (standby). The manual clearly states that "When disconnect your player from the power supply for a long time, your player can lose the network settings. Set up the Wi-Fi network again." (source)
Ralf, could you check whether your NetTV settings are also forgotten completely? Perhaps we're having the same issue. The NetTV functionality is completely useless as it is now.
I got my BDP8000 two day ago and i get so angry when i loosing all settings after i stop looking ( standby ). I have 1,56 firmware and i wonder why Philips dosent fix this bug.
I also have to register in to NetTV also...
I just talk to Stockholm and the Philips support there and they never heard anything about this problem, so i gave them a tips to look in there own Community Forum to see that the problem been there since okt 2010 and the realese was in sept 2010. I will give my 8000 back and buy another brand coz this smells bad.

Hi Ralf and Arjan,
Please check your personal messages.

All other data is still safe. No need to reregister NETTV for example.
Had a chat with Support and they advised to send player to Service.
@Remko: Any advise from you?
Until now we were not able to reproduce the issue and this is why I have asked some users to get in contact with their local call centers. Once we have received one of the devices we will check and come back to you all as soon as possible.
thanks for the Info.
I don´t know how the player stores the data so it´s just a guess:
Is it possible that something has overwritten a "special" part of the internal memory which normaly is used to store the Settings?
I´m thinking about this cause for me it looks like the problem occured after watching a rececently released Blu-Ray.
This Blu-Ray does not seem to be 100% compatible to the player cause after restarting playback from standby it´s not able to continue from the point it stopped and it takes very long to get back to the Blu-Ray menu (about 3 Minutes).
This is the movie

In my case player also forgets last point in DVD Playback
Loneship comment about the player forgetting where it was on DVD/Blu-Ray playback is also the case for me. The BDP 8000 forgets where it was and always -annoyingly- starts the DVD from the beginning when powered on from standby. It definitely behaves as if the memory is cleared at standby. I have contacted local call center, so I can hopefully update on that one.
Having said that, it sounds like in Loneship's case perhaps the Devil came into the machine when exorcised from his Blu-Ray copy of The Rite/Das Ritual...
Well...The Evil is always and everywhere! ;-)

By the way: Is there any reason that BDP8000 no longer is listed on Philips´s Homepage?
Is it already End of Life? Will there be future support with Firmware-Updates?
