Did you install the Electronic Program Guide (EPG)?

On my remote control is a guide button. With this you should be able to see the program-guide. When I press it there was no information. I watch TV via a satellite decoder, I did not install channels on my TV.
I found in the user manual that my TV has a DVB-T tuner. I put a piece of wire to my antenna cable and performed a channel installation. The TV found lots of channels, these are the digitenne channels (I am in the Netherlands). I can even watch several channels because these are “free to air”, but I do not use these because I have these channels in HD via my satellite decoder.
If I now press the Guide button, I get a very nice program overview. It looks much better than the guide from my satellite decoder. I now frequently use this when I want to have a quick view on what is on TV.

You might be lucky that you are close to a DVB-T broadcast antenna. I could not receive all those DVB-T stations, just on a piece of wire, I needed a proper antenna. Some clarification on the use of the Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

The program guide provided by Philips is available via the internet connection (IP-EPG). It uses the same connection as Net TV.
The program index in this guide is created at channel installation.
On the new 2010 TV generation, the TV broadcast remains visual via “picture in picture”.
The program guide information pages are linked to Wikipedia. This provides all kind of background information on movies and movie stars.

The availability of program guides depends on various things:

• When you use digital cable (DVB-C). It might be that the digital cable provider offers a program guide. When you use the digital decoder in the TV, the TV automatically provides de program guide from the cable provider. In this way you have NO choice in the program guide.
• Country settings. The program guide provided by Philips (IP-EPG) is not yet available in all countries (status: March-2011).

  - Belgium,
  - Czech Republic,
  - Denmark,
  - France,
  - Germany,
  - Ireland,
  - Italy,
  - Luxemburg,
  - Netherlands,
  - Poland,

I also have connected a STB to HDMI input for receiving HD digital TV content.

When watching TV using a STB the EPG can not be activated!

As most people in The Netherlands have to watch digital TV in this way (Only Ziggo customers can use CI+), this nice NETTV EPG with Wiki links is a completely useless feature!

I would suggest to raise a change request to enable EPG also when the HDMI input is selected. In this way also the majority of the customers can use this EPG. Of course selecting a channel using the EPG would perhaps not be possible as the change channel command has to be sent using HDMI to the STB and maybe this is not supported

Here in Germany on my 32PFL9705K/02 the IP-EPG works just fine.

The EPG is in German, but the Informationpage (Wikipedia) i.e. for the actors is in English.

Any change that for 9705 models the EPG user interface for DVB-C in The Netherlands is going to be improved soon? Or ever?

Clearly stated by from the Philips moderator that IP-EPG is not available in Sweden, then I find it strange that there is a picture of IP-EPG clearly stating that the program guide can be browsed while watching TV with picture-in-picture, on the philips.se web-pages.

I think German EPG ??? I am Dutch so you can forget about that.. Why must we do tricks in the Netherlands , where all other countries can view the new IP-EPG??????? I paid the same amount off money for my tv and expect the same services.

It's just flabbergasting that manufactering expensive materials, high-end tech peripherals and connectivity, and simply say that you are a precursor using this kind of TV isn't enough to me
Is there so much interest in the sector that now high-end user can't use this high-end TV or only when cable operators would decide to let it ?

My Philips is 55PFL8007K/12; I thought using an application connecting to STB. peripherals like a hdd for comfort playing (pause, reward, forward) and perhaps maybe multiple tuner capability is possible with this TV.

Why building a TV like this if you cannot use the options.

I would suggest to philips to adapt it's statement more agressively then or simply stop building Nettv.. also a privacy menu in network options would be great with options like firewall, proxy, etc..
