Hi,
often the firmware for the 8000 and 9000 series will be available a few days after the 7000 series...

Hi all,
Software 140.32 for the 5000, 6000, and 7000 series is available .
This version will also address the "audio loss" issue.
Software 140.32 upload for the 8000 and 9000 series will start soon.Last edited by Philips; 03-07-2011 at 12:28 PM.

I still have the same problem. Random sound drops from any HDMI source, the onlyones i've tried. I'm running the 000.140.032.000 version of firmware published yesterday.

Even worse, when call call the support center, either the guys answering are idiots who are not aware of the issue or they play fool.
I called on thursday 10 about the sound drop issue and they promised me "a solution in the next 48 hours". It's now monday 14 and I don't see any solution.
Reading your posts I'm wondering how Philips developers test their software and wheter there will ever be a solution

Dear Bizzcve,
have you informed all the most important audio/video/electronic forums (to which you are listed) in order to pass the bad feedback ASAP?
The only way to "speed up" Philips for a prompt solution is to lower their sales of new TV and soundbar models! Please inform them all!
Sorry to say that but my patience is already gone.
regards
Ps. To call the technical support centers for these fw issue is a pure waste of time! They check their internal databases to suggest the installation of the latest firmware release, nothing else.
Sorry to say but here in Technical support center in Padua they're less prepared/informed than all the members listed in this Philips forum.
Is not their fault, the problem is that they read through the firmware release notes and they're not aware that the "sound issue via HDMI solved" is not true!Last edited by Nettle; 03-14-2011 at 09:22 AM.

I downloaded 140.32 and installed it on my Philips 46PFL9705/K02. Audio drops seem to continue. @Philips can you please comment on work-arounds? Can I bypass the TV and use another source for sound? Rumor has it the occurance of this bug has to do with the time the TV has been operating on on standby, i.e. switching of the mains would help. Where are the mains?
When will there be the next update? Will it run on all 46PFL9705/K02 or are there differences between them?
Niels
The audio drops today showed after 2 hours running one program. My TV-provider is AONTV, which is using an ADB-3800-TW IPTV box. I am also using a PS3, which showed the same issue once when using it as a DVD/BluRay-player.Last edited by Niels1974; 03-14-2011 at 09:33 PM. Reason: give info on my system

Ideas..
I did a little research on the internet: If you google "HDMI and sound drops" you get hits linking to Philips issues but also to other vendors. I also found out that in the past the way to resolve sound issues was to configure the HDMI sources to produce stereo output only. I tried this, i.e. I made my PS3 and my AON.TV-box produce stereo output only using PCM.
I don't have a Dolby Surround yet. So, this might be a start until the next firmware comes.

Today, I was lucky. I saw a whole movie from my HTPC through HDMI, and I got no sound drop (not a single one) from my amplifier fed from my 46PFL9705 through SPDIF.

Joined this to day and well just cant beleave it!! You buy one of the most exspencive TV's out there (56PFL9954H) to be a beta tester. Now if the net tv didnt work or i didnt like the epg or the crap USB player that would be one thing but picture and sound? the two most basic componts to a TV, Philips get your act to gether!!
I have no sound from the TV, its not the medai centre nor the sky box, Wii or Poineer amp as all are now setup to bypass the TV. Can get software update beyound Q5492-0.26.76.0 direct via TV nor from the USB?? TV keeps saying there is no new firmware mine is 30/5/2010 now would have said this is a mistake but looking at other posts mr Philips ant too good once the TV goses out of the shop. 3 of teh 5 sets in the house are philips looks like this will be the last!!
Must say your all very good trying to resolve this problem for Philips, me I'll give them a couple of days to come fix it before droping it back at their door as not fit for purpose and look for full refund.
