dvd reading
Hello,
Take a commercial multilingual DVD.
1/ put it into your old DVD625 PHILIPS player. Works like a charm (menu, scene selection, audio tracks,...).
2/ move to your favorite LINUX pc and lauch VLC. Open the dvd drive, read perfectly like DVD625.
3/ copy your dvd VIDEO_TS structure to your hardisk, with k9copy or whatever you want.
4/ lauch one more time VLC and open that VIDEO_TS directory. Ok, same as before. Reads ok.
5/ copy VIDEO_TS to your network server (DNLA) and to your usb disk drive.
6/ move to your 32pfl7605, firmware 140.046.000
7/ browse your network server, find the VIDEO_TS, find .vob files. The TV is completly lost.
8/ plug in your usb drive
8a/ browse again to VIDEO_TS and try. Nothing. (remember VLC point 4).
8b/ try a .VOB file and MIRACLE, it reads. Unbelievable. Oh it's far far far from DVD625. No menu, no sound track selection. But it reads. Wait... Yes it reads in sequence .vob files. Super. Keep reading and wait, what do I ear ? What langage is this ? THE TV JUST SWITCHED FROM FRENCH TO ENGLISH AUDIO TRACK !
your challenge feature for 2012
- handle VIDEO_TS like any dvd reader
and because you will never do that
your challenge bug fixes for 2012:
- not selecting randomly sound tracks at each chapter change.
- not read or reject a file depending on its source.
Happy new year TPV/Philips ! Start from scratch a real opensource software.

Playing DVDs from DLNA Media Server is a good request! I also miss that feature. It is much more practicable to copy the DVD to a media server once and have it archived and available every time without taking a disc out of a case and insert it into a media player and back...

*bump*
Is Philips doing anything with this list, or is it only for the show on this forum?

Hi,
just want to get back to this list, as the new SmartTV portal was released now.
Some items of the bug list will be solved with new SmartTV release. So we might check those items again and we might mark them as fixed with green color
.
Thinking at "Commercials are impeding usage of NetTV".
This might encourage also the Philips team, since their improvement is also seen and we recognize their effort on this items.
@Toengel: If you find the time, you might update it? Do you think the same?

Hi,
yes, I have this on my todo list. However, I'd like to wait until the new portal is really finished and all is working (e.g. the dynamic background is not working properly and many translation errors are present).
This is the list, which we need to check:
- Bug 16
- Bug 24
- Bug 27
Did I miss something?

Wether this is important or not is up to you. When watching Net TV after setting a reminder in the progamme guide the on screen reminder does not appear. Same thing happens when watching a BD movie. I.e. the reminder doesn't work when watching other sources than TV.

Hi,
1- Sticker effect in dark scenes
2- no détails at all in dark scenes
3- Not the same level of resolution/mpeg artefact reduction/super resolution on TV compare with HDMI (with the same channel of course)
Regards

My model 37PFL5405H, 2 year ones the television.
Will not be to this more firmwares developments already?
From the TV set the ARC sound (HDMI1 - Philips Easylink function) is tattered invariably and continuously...

Philips has released a firmware for 2011 models related to problems in EasyLink. I recently contacted Philips and I was told that there will also be a new firmware for 2010 models.
However, no planned release date could be mentioned...

I think PHILIPS forgot about us with our 2010 TV sets family and there is no new FW any more - this long list of problems is useless - THEY will never fix any of these problems
