You should ask for the TV replacement earlier.
4 repairs for your TV is unaccetable.

I did: I called E-Care (responsible for the repair of the TV) that I wouldn't accept the 4th repair (it was 'only' repaired 3 times).
And after a lot of phone calls they agreed.
But I really don't like the way I'm being treated by them, because I just called the Philips support desk again to ask them if it really isn't possible to request a 2011 model as replacement and they were surprised that E-Care didn't mention that it - with or without some additional costs - is possible!
So tomorrow I'm again going to call E-Care again to complain/question/seek clarification about why I'm being treated like this - in the name of Philips - while Philips themselve does give me this solution...
A real pity it that I realy liked the 40" size, but in The Netherlands Philips officially only has 37 and 46 sizes.
My wife probably won't agree with the 46" and the 37" 'only' has edge lit LED...
Again to be continued....

Hi Chris,
ask explicitly for the 40 inch model - they need to solve that for you... it's their turn - after 3 repairs...

Hi Alex,
Yes, you are right, but the 40" 9606 is no longer on the Dutch philips website (after being there a couple of month) and now the 'old' 2010 model of 40 and 46 inch are there as 'current models': http://www.philips.nl/c/televisie-90...ONSUMER%3Dtrue.
So if I ask them explicitly for the 40" version they are right to provide me with the current 9705...
Hi Nettle,
Thanks for that advice. The Philips support desk already told me, that E-Care should provide me with the option of other models with an additional fee, or - if less then current - a cashback
My other option is that I ask a complete cashback and order the 40" 2011 model via (Dutch) online shop...
Again: to be continued...
Chris

Bug 26
Reply from Thomas:
http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...g-on-46pfl9705
This point was and is never mentioned in the documents, the TV set does not fulfill the requirements a costumer expects and it goes back to the dealer now. By the way: the 9706 uses Dynamic Backlight in 3D!!!!!

Hi
true, we did not mention this, we also did not mention, that you can not make usb recordings with 2k10 tv's, same is with 3d via smart TV.
On the other Side, we did not promise somewhere that this will work, did we?
Expectations and Technical Solutions are completely different, that is why we have this Forum, our Service Centers, Email/Phone and Chat Support, so you can get in contact with us to check if the TV you are up to does met your expectations.
If not, you know that this might be not the right TV for you.
Its fine for me that you found a Solution. Hope you will find a TV which is the right one for you.

This answer is to cheap, no one talks about usb recording, i did not expect this when i bought the TV. But i and surely everyone expects local dimming and low black levels in 3D as it is the main feature of this product. Surely lawyers will find the solution in the documents soon. By the way: Why is the cause listed as "bug" in the list?

Hi
you need to ask Toengel, he creates this List, don't know why he adds this to the "Bug" Part of the List.
We dont's see a Bug here, like i wrote before, this is normal behavior.
Best Regards

Final update (while typing this on my new 40PFL9705):
After some conflicting phone-calls to E-care and philips (regarding what the possibilities were), I just decided to let it all go and see where it all ended.
So now I'm again enjoying my 40" 9705 (VN1M1146 - FW 140.40).
The problems I had with the model adter last repair and what I feared are thank God not present in this model. No strange backlight changes with subtitles, just nice clear picture.
(ok, so it would have been really nice to have got the 2011 model with the USB recording and build in 3D transmitter...
)
A happy 9705 watcher Chris.
PS: Everybody have a nice newyearseve and a great 2012!Last edited by Chrissie18; 12-30-2011 at 06:25 PM. Reason: Added firmware version and best wishes

Hi Chris!

Congratulations!
Finally!
By the way, a 9705 still being made in 1146!?... You would almost say "they" came to a "certain conclusion"...
How does this very late series compare picture wise to your old one BEFORE there were these strange LED problems that you had?...
And of course, have a great New Year's Eve everyone!

Thanks for the wishes!
Everybody still got all their fingers?
For now I did not see any things that disturbed me. I did set the picture again to standard and the dyn backlight to best picture after whatching 'Youp' last night.
The viewing angle is the same as the last panel after the repair (so really good for my standards) and I did not notice any strange dark spots, so yeah, you could say I'm actually quite content.
Anyways, it's only the 40" version that is the '2011 model'. I got some conflicting stories: the shop owner said it was expected in Feb 2012, the Philips support desk said it was skipped alltogether, so the 2012 would be arriving in september 2012...
Coming Tuesday I'm expecting the 3D transmitter (already got 2 pair of glasses). I only need to see if I can get 3D on my MediaCenter.
Anybody got some experiences with 3D on a Pre-Sandy Bridge Core i5?!
Chris

Hello,
I have 40pfl6605h tv set. I dont know, it is bug or not, but I cannot rename channel (dvb-c). I select rename, change current channel name to the new one, try to save/apply, but name is shown still unchanged.
So, how could I change the channel name (dvb-c)? Or if it is bug, so could it be fixed?
kind regards,
Vejas

Oh, one more thing about 40pfl6605h. The usb media player is almost unacceptable for video. Rewind/Fast forward is very slow and freezes after short time in most cases (so, you should restart tv to start watching again).
Could somebody comment this?
kind regards,
Vejas
