Thumbs down I just want you to know that i´m returning my new Philips..

I just want you to know that tomorrow I will return my 40PFL6606D. Luckily the store where I bought the LCD has a return policy if the customer is not satisfied, and I'm not.

It's incredible that an LED LCD of 2011 does not have support for subtitles, and not only that, but on the product page says "Our TV's do not support the use of external subtitles When you watch movies from a USB memory device. NOTE: There Will be available no software upgrade in the future to support the external subtitle feature."

In this forum I read countless customer requests about this, with no response to them, this is how Philips values its customers? Philips wants us to trust in your brand for future purchases ignoring our request?

Did not the costumers even deserve a clear explanation of why Philips does not provide such a basic function that all the other brands offer?

So, no subtitles? , even in the future with a firmware update? Ok, there will not be Philips 40PFL6606D for me, and it will be a Samsung 40 D5550 thanks its ability to read subtitles and frecuent Firmware updates. Thanks Philips for not listening to its customers, I will not trust in your brand anymore.

PS: The store clerk did not know that the Philips did not read the subtitles from MKV, it is something that he will take into account when advice buyers

    Hi Sambuqa,

"Our TV's do not support the use of external subtitles When you watch movies from a USB memory device. NOTE: There Will be available no software upgrade in the future to support the external subtitle feature."
Can you post the Link where you got those Informations?
Because i can not find it on the Support page for the 40PFL6606D.

In fact, this TV will get Subtitle Support with a FW Update (no release Date known yet).

    Regards
    Thomas

    Yes, these are the links:

    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...=B%C3%BAsqueda

    and

    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...scy=BR&slg=ENG

The 2nd link now says No content available Please try again later.

but if you Google: 40PFL6606D subtitles

is the first link you get, and in the preview of that page clearly reads: "Our TV's do not support the use of external subtitles When you watch movies from ...", exactly what Argentina´s support page says

if you only say "currently does not support subtitles," I can expect in the future you do with some updating, but it clearly says: NOTE: There Will be available no software upgrade in the future to support the external subtitle feature, and in the Forums I found no response to user complaints about this, so I changed the LCD
